Greetings!
colours

This is not much more than a quick note to local readers inviting them to the Geneva Expat Expo... and to get you thinking about YOUR  "comfort zone".

You know, each year I contemplate whether or not I should take a stand (well, there's an interesting pun!) at the ExpatExpo exhibition. My first thought is always "No, I'll not bother this year" ......but I then recognise that voice as being my reluctance to get out of my comfort zone (I am a bit of an  introvert when it comes to talking about what I do).
So I go ahead and register as an exhibitor to deliberately get out of my comfort zone - and I always end up having fun, enjoying meeting lots of new people, and feeling glad that I went.

So, again I have taken a stand....and you'll find me at Stand H8!
Till next time,

                Sue

The Comfort Zone

So much for my venture outside my comfort zone.

What about you?

Where could you do with a dose of courage?
Courage to (dare to) do something... even although you feel apprehensive or anxious, or recognise that your "I'd rather not" is in fact a cop-out?

One of my clients sent me this simple little poem some time ago. She didn't write it, but she felt it summed up her work predicament  pretty well (she has since left that job, giving up the "golden handcuffs" it offered her, and has made the choice to pursue a job that better matches her personality, her values, and her health priorities).

How might these words be relevant for you?

My Comfort Zone- A Poem
                                                       (Author Unknown)

I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I couldn't fail:
The same four walls and "busywork" were really more like jail.
I longed so much to do the things I'd never done before,
But stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.

I said it didn't matter that I wasn't doing much.
I said I didn't care for things like "fulfillment", "fun" and such.
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside the zone,
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.

I couldn't let my life go by just watching others "win".
I held my breath; I stepped outside, and let the change begin.

I took a step and with new strength I'd never felt before
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye...and closed and locked the door.

If you are in a comfort zone, afraid to venture out,
Remember that all "winners" were at one time filled with doubt.
A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true.
Reach for your future with a smile: success is there for you!

                                                              ____

And in the more refined words of Goethe:
" Knowing is not enough: we must apply.
Willing is not enough: we must do".
