Santa Cruz County Approves Plastic Bag Ban
The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors recently voted in support of an ordinance to ban the use of plastic bags. The goal: cut down the
amount of plastic bags found in our oceans, harming marine life, and
littering our waterways. Save Our Shores has been working tirelessly on the Plastic Bag
Ban Campaign for years now, and from June 2007 - March 2010 removed
over 19,887 plastic bags during beach and river cleanups! Read our full story...

Tell Obama to keep his promise on commercial whaling - sign the petition and let your voice be heard!
In his own words: "As president, I will ensure that
the U.S. provides leadership in enforcing international wildlife
protection agreements, including strengthening the international
moratorium on commercial whaling. Allowing Japan to continue commercial
whaling is unacceptable."
Yet the International Whaling Commission
is now considering a
proposal that would grant commercial whaling quotas to Japan,
Iceland & Norway. Sign the petition to speak out against commercial whaling.
