Adventure Film Festival Hosted by Save Our Shores

Save Our Shores and The Adventure Film Festival is proud to present an evening of award winning films highlighting surfing, kayaking, conservation and more.  Click here to see a trailer for "Gum for my Boat," one of the films to be shown at the festival here in Santa Cruz.

Join us on April 8th at the Rio Theater at 7pm. Tickets are $12 or $10 with a student ID. All proceeds go to Save Our Shores.  Each guest will receive a free raffle ticket for the wonderful raffle items given away throughout the night.

Earth Day Santa Cruz

The County of Santa Cruz,the City of Santa Cruz, local non-profits, and concerned citizens are working together to make Earth Day 2010 the premier environmental event for the greater Santa Cruz community!

Earth Day 2010 will take place on April 17th from 11 AM to 4 PM rain or shine in the San Lorenzo Park and Benchlands behind the County building. This free event will be solar powered and will feature activities for kids, live music, educational information and a compost
workshop. Come enjoy a great community event and learn how you can do your part to protect the environment.



Public Comment on Marine Protected Areas
April 7th

MPA public comment

Public comment is the main way you can voice your choice for Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).  Let your voice be heard!

The California Fish and Game Commission will be taking public comment on the MPAs in progress in Southern California at the Best Western Resort in Monterey on April 7th at 10am.  Save Our Shores will be attending the meeting in support of MPAs and we encourage you to join us.  Click here for all of the information on the meeting and ideas for talking points.  Hope to see you there! Pay taxes for sea otters

Pay Taxes for Sea Otters!

Make sure to help out the sea otters when you are doing your taxes this month.  You can contribute to the Sea Otter Fund (code 410) while filling out your Income Tax Return (Form 540).  This money will go towards conservation efforts for the endangered California Sea Otters.  Click here for more information.

We are partnering with AFF to host the Santa Cruz Adventure Film Festival on April 8th.  We appreciate the opportunity to partner with them to connect people to the ocean through film.  They chose to make the Santa Cruz festival a fundraiser for SOS and designed the great posters you have seen around town.  Click here to view their website.
