Commentary
HIV infection is a serious public heath and social epidemic. Some of us remember the early 1980s as an era filled with pain, illness, helplesness, discrimination, isolation, insecurity, and countless funerals. We cannot experience this type of era again. Public funding opportunities for HIV have come a long way and we cannot go back to the days where our friends and clients died every day due to the lack of treatment funds, nor go back to the days where the rate of HIV infection among our friends and our communities was immeasurably high. Please contact your legislators today and revert these proposed budget cuts; we have too much to accomplish; we have a responsibility to our communities and to the health of the public.
Thank You. |
