Kauai Pacific School, formerly known as Kula Elementary, is pleased to announce that it is now accepting enrollment applications for 2009-2010 for grades pre-K through 6. Kauai Pacific School recently completed a three month strategic planning process during which its Board of Trustees, the school community, and the greater North Shore community, worked together to develop realistic, long-term goals designed to position KPS as a premier preK-12 21st century school. The new name reflects the school's physical location, as well as its place in the global community. Kauai Pacific was also chosen because it represents earth and water, two elements necessary to sustain our presence on the earth. Board member Chris Jaeb expressed this forward-thinking philosophy: "This is a new beginning at a unique place in time. People around the world are sensing the need for a 21st century school that provides a deep connection with the environment, a new understanding of community, and a sense of personal empowerment. We are creating the first generation of truly global citizens." KPS is the only fully-accredited, independent elementary school on the North Shore and is committed to providing an education that will give our keiki the tools to become meaningful members of society. Principal Lisa Mireles said it best: "KPS will offer a truly progressive learning environment where students will learn how to learn, be inspired to take thoughtful action in their communities, and fully realize their artistic, physical, and academic gifts." Kauai Pacific's mission is to ignite a passion for life-long learning and service by developing caring, curious and confident children. Scholarships and tuition assistance are available.
