World Vets Newsletter May 2009
www.worldvets.org
Greetings!

Dr Cathy
Summer is just around the corner and World Vets is gearing up for a very busy few months of international projects.  With nearly a dozen teams heading out all over the globe in the next three months alone, our reach should be far and wide.

We are especially excited about or new partnership with the United States Army and Navy to provide veterinary services to the remote islands of the Oceania region as part of the 4-month long Pacific Partnership Program.   We look forward to sharing the details of the mission as the project unfolds.

We appreciate your interest, support and efforts that help World Vets make the world a better place for animals.

Sincerely,

Cathy King DVM, MS, PhD
CEO, World Vets

USS DUBUQUE
Work with World Vets in the South Pacific onboard a US Navy Battleship

World Vets is honored to be the only veterinary NGO (non-government organization) participating in a public-private partnership with the US Navy onboard the USS Dubuque this summer.  Pacific Partnership 09 is a humanitarian mission providing medical, dental, veterinary and engineering aid to the Oceanian region.   World Vets is currently recruiting qualified volunteers (vets, techs and students with technical skills) to be a part of this mission traveling to the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Tonga, The Solomon Islands and Samoa. The first team will arrive in the region by mid-June.   For more information click here.

Animal Care Expo
Thanks to everyone who came by our booth at Animal Care Expo 2009 in Las Vegas.  The meeting had a large international attendance and as a result of some of the great people we met there, we have 3 new projects in the planning stages;  Romania, Peru and Tanzania.

Nicaragua Project Under Way
A World Vets team is currently in Granada, Nicaragua putting on a spay/neuter clinic.  This is our first of many projects in Nicaragua.

World Vets Gifts
Looking for a unique gift idea?  Now you can send a customized birthday, graduation or other type of card with a specified donation item (eg a dog spay in a developing country) in honor of the recipient.  Gifts start at just $5.  You can even create a wedding or other gift registry.   Its a great way to help World Vets and honor a special event at the same time.  For more information click here.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We are making an urgent plea for donations to help purchase veterinary supplies and equipment for our upcoming mission in Oceania. We need to raise $13,000 by June 1st.  Monetary donations can be made here.     Donations of supplies (eg. non-expired 2-0, 3-0 PDS or equivalent; spay packs, autoclave, headlamps, IV catheters, 500 small toys (uniform and new) for kids class, IV catheters, flea/tick meds etc).  If you have in kind donations please contact heather@worldvets.org.

Its rare that we send out an urgent plea for support.  If you can give, this is the time!  Thanks.

"My experience with World Vets was incredible both professionally and personally.  I was able to get a high volume of experience during the clinic days, and during the days and nights off our team made the most of being in a beautiful tropical setting.  It was the perfect way to do some good in a community while also having a great time."
