In an effort to minimize infection and provide the healthiest environment for your students, Nurse Jen is supplying the classrooms with Band-Aids and such in First Aid kits. We are hoping that by preparing the teacher for those minor scrapes, we will prevent "well" students from entering a possibly "sick" environment at the clinic.
The clinic is accepting recycled and clean pencil boxes, unused makeup pouches, or other small containers (with lids or zippers). These will be used to make First Aid kits for the classrooms. |
 Reminder: L&F Cleanout
Lost and Found Cleanout is Monday, October 14th at 8 a.m. All items will be donated. |

Updates & Reminders from Dr. Neely
- The Oak Grove Foundation iPads (25) and syncing cart have arrived! Thank you to everyone who participated in the Spring Auction Fund-a-Need. iPads will be available for class checkout next week. In addition, the OGF funded three new sets of ActivExpressions voters. These handheld devices allow students to respond to instruction. Responses are posted on the ActivBoard and used to increase engagement and guide the teacher through the lesson.
- You may not know that Oak Grove runs its very own After-School Extended Day Program. Profits from this program can be used to purchase needed items for our school. We have just received 8 ActivBoards and 30 iPads. We will hopefully outfit 10 more classrooms with ActivBoards this year. The iPads will be used in a pilot program in 2nd grade classrooms. We are trying to determine the best methods for deployment of iPads and laptops as we look to provide more and more effective technology use in the daily curriculum.
- Benchmark testing is coming up for K-5 students in October. Students will take a short (not for a grade) assessment over the first 9 week unit of instruction in Math & Reading (K-5), Science & Social Studies (3-5). This information will help our school respond to any gaps in instruction as we plan the next 9 week unit. Benchmark testing is a DCSD initiative.
- Please check your child's communicator for information on ITBS & CogAT testing for 1st, 3rd, and 5th graders.
