ELVPCHighlights from ELPC Meeting
During the annual State of the System Address on Sept. 19th, Dr. Atkinson highlighted the many changes she has made during her first year as superintendent.  Among them, she has instituted a modified zero-based budgeting process; restructured the central office; aligned the DCSS curriculum with the Common Core Standards; requested a forensic audit; and ensured that art, music, PE, and instrumental music are available at every school.  She explained that DCSS will fully cooperate with the SACS investigation (to be completed Oct. 17-19).  She also asked that parents give their input regarding the balanced calendar option for the 2012-2013 school year.   The next Emory LaVista Parent Council meeting will be Oct. 17th and will feature a debate on the Charter School Amendment.

Safe Routes to School Parent Survey
Please keep the completed Parent Surveys coming in!  It helps OGE maintain its Gold Level Status with Georgia Safe Routes to School (GSRTS). This status affords us incentives from the GSRTS Resource Center and is always emphasized in our grant writing as we seek funding to help make walking to school safer for our students.
