2013-2014 School Year Calendar Options
A group of teachers, principals, and parents met this week to develop multiple calendar options for the 2013-2014 school year. Among the options they considered was a "balanced calendar," which would reduce summer break by two weeks and include an additional week of vacation each semester. They also discussed the possibility of a weekly "early release" to allow for additional professional development for teachers. The options this group ultimately agrees upon will be unveiled on September 17 and will be available for public comment September 17-26. The Superintendent will then make her recommendation to the Board on October 1. The Board will vote on a final 2013-2014 calendar on October 8. We will keep you informed as we receive more information about the options that will be considered. |
