SRTSWalking Wednesday!
Safe Routes to School

We had 218 walkers this Wednesday for our final Walking Wednesday of

the 2011-2012 school year! Way to go Oak Grove! Thanks to all of the

parents/guardians who walk each week (and a lot of you who walk every

day) and to those parents and kids who arrive early each Wednesday to

hand out incentives. Without parent volunteers there would be no Walking Wednesdays!

Safe Routes to School logoWe will start back in August and hope to have another great year of walking/biking!! Please continue to walk or bike the remainder of

the school year. It's a great way to start the day and the weather has been beautiful!

If you are interested in being on the Safe Routes to School Committee next year, please sign up in August. It's a lot of fun and very rewarding!

Remember to be safe and be seen!
movieRace to Nowhere...

The Lakeside High School PTSA is proud to be bringing the documentary, "Race to Nowhere" to the Lakeside Auditorium on Thursday, May 10th at 7 pm. This film is a thought provoking look at our education system today. "Race to Nowhere" is a call to mobilize families, educators, and policy makers to challenge current assumptions on how to best prepare the youth of America to become healthy, bright, contributing and leading citizens. It is an incredible film about the challenges kids today have where they are bombarded by academic standards, they are competing for educational opportunities and juggling runaway schedules. Young people are struggling to accommodate all the intense demands. It's a must-see for parents, students, educators and administrators.

Please join us on Thursday, May 10th at 7 pm. Admission is free but you can reserve your seat at http://www.racetonowhere.com/epostcard/5948.

We look forward to seeing you there.
