healthy_spotHealthy Spot Award Winners for February

The Nutrition and Wellness Committee would like to recognize two of our outstanding Oak Grove Elementary Teachers that have gone the extra mile to incorporate healthy eating and exercise into their classroom. This month's winners of the Healthy Spot Award are Ms. Dukes and Mrs. Kaufman.

Ms. Dukes was nominated because "she incorporates lots of physical activities during the class hours, by singing songs and moving their arms and feet while learning the phonics and sounding out the words. She is encouraging and very energetic."

Ms. Kaufman was nominated because "she really encourages water over other beverages and is huge on promoting exercise."

Congratulations to both teachers for being such great role models for our children. If you observe other staff exemplifying such healthy behaviors, please consider nominating them by e-mailing Margaret West at mrh0@cdc.gov. Two faculty/staff will be recognized monthly from now until the end of the school year, so please continue to send in your nominations.

Georgia Walk to School Day

Congratulations Oak Grove for a successful Georgia Walk to School Day on March 7th! The Walking School Buses were a big success with 250+ walkers joining a bus and many other walkers participating individually so our total number of walkers is estimated to be at least 275. This event officially kicked off the return of "Walking Wednesdays" so be sure to come out and walk each Wednesday for the next several weeks.
