ClearWelcome to Mrs. Bonnie Clear, Oak Grove's new Fourth Grade Teacher!

Please read Mrs. Clear's Welcome Letter below...

All About Me
  • I attended Livsey Elementary School for KindergartenBonnie Clear through fourth grade and Woodward Academy for fifth through twelfth grade.
  • I love and support all athletics!! For the past two years, I have been coaching a middle school girls' soccer team. I would love to be involved in an afterschool athletic program and support my students in their after school activities.
  • I pride myself on being a professional, collaborating well with co-workers, communicating with parents, and being an active member of the community.

My Top 5 Teaching Tools

  • I am an Auburn University Alumni and love Auburn athletics; therefore, if you enter my classroom during small groups you will most likely hear me ask to meet with the War Eagle group or the Tigers group.
  • As a strategy to keep myself organized at home I write and complete several "To Do Lists"; therefore, I have transmitted this organizational tool to my classroom to help myself with classroom management. My students have a "Finish To Do List" that they complete once they finish independent work. The "First To Do List" includes independent, partner, and group activities.
  • If you were to come to my house on a weekend or weeknight, you would most likely see me working on my laptop or using my iphone; therefore, I like to incorporate technology into my lesson plans. I help students master wiki pages, webquests, glogster, and several other tools found on the internet or on a smart board.
  • Also, in my spare time I enjoy exercising and socializing; therefore, I like to implement lessons that allow my students to move around the room and not stay on the carpet or at their desk long amounts of time as well as implementing peer collaboration in the lessons. Students work together and have specific roles on certain tasks throughout the day, so if you walk by my door you will certainly hear knowledge being absorbed.
  • Finally, I am an avid reader. I believe in the importance of students reading daily in every subject. One of my favorite tools to implement reading across the curriculum is Reader's Theatre.
Mrs. Clear is teaching fourth grade ELA and Science and is replacing Mrs. Angela Reaves who has moved to Indiana with her husband due to his job transfer. Mrs. Clear can be reached at the school number (678-874-7402) or by email at bonnie_b_clear@fc.dekalb.k12.ga.us. She begins on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 and we are thrilled to welcome her to our staff!

This year's Georgia Walk to School Day is on Weds., March 7th, and we're celebrating it with the return of Walking School Buses!
