Walking Wednesday: New Lights for Path
We had 176 walkers this past Wednesday. Way to go Oak Grove!
We have just one more Walking Wednesday remaining this semester so use your best efforts to get out and walk or bike next Wednesday.
There are new lights along the path between North Akin Dr. and the school so take advantage of that enhancement.
We will be handing out some great incentives so please join your neighbors and walk or bike to school! Remember to be safe and be seen! |

Farm to School Day for November The October Farm to School Day was a great success - thanks to students, staff, and parents! More than 500 students were recognized for either eating the Granny Smith Apples served through the lunch program or bringing and eating apples in their lunch from home. Students were spotted actually carrying unfinished apples with them at the end of the lunch period instead of throwing them away - way to go Oak Grove students! To keep building on this success, the Nutrition and Wellness Committee will promote this month's DeKalb Farm to School Day on Thursday, November 10th, and the item will be locally grown Sweet Potatoes. During morning announcements, the committee will have interesting facts and will be present in the cafeteria encouraging students to try sweet potatoes. If your student has a lunch account already set up, please encourage them to try the sweet potatoes on this day. If your child brings lunch from home, you can pack sweet potatoes on this day for him or her to eat or send 75 cents with them to purchase as an a la carte item. Pictures of last month's event are being posted on the bulletin board in the main hallway outside of Mrs. Neely's office. Additional pictures will be taken and can be viewed on the Clubs & Committees section of the PTA website. If you have additional questions or would like to volunteer to help with the monthly event please contact Margaret West at mrh0@cdc.gov.
