Holy week is upon us, and today I invite you to remember our commitment from earlier this year:
I will. . .
slow down, choose carefully, trust God, simplify my life;
So that I might. . .
see clearly, listen carefully, think deeply, enjoy life fully,
serve God effectively
At Bethlehem there are wonderful worship opportunities designed to help you to slow down as together we follow Jesus through this holy week:
- Wednesday evening we'll focus on Jesus' last Wednesday evening and the surprising events he experienced.
- Thursday evening we'll share in the Last Supper and go with Jesus to the garden of Gethsemane.
- Friday the Crosswalk will draw us close to Jesus in his journey to the cross.
- Saturday evening we'll begin celebrating the joy of the resurrection.
- Sunday morning at our sunrise service young people of BLC will lead us in the new life that God gives us.
- Our later two worship services will pull out all the stops as the choir, bells, brass and more all lead us in the joy of resurrection.
If you are in the area, we hope you'll participate in these opportunities to enter deeply into the whole story of Jesus' passionate love. If you are traveling, I hope you'll have safe journeys and will connect with our gracious God and your loved ones this Holy Week and Easter.
Let us pray: God of all time, slow us down this week so that we may experience the depth and richness of your love poured out for us. When we fear, fill us with your Spirit so that we may faithfully celebrate your care for us and all the world. Open our eyes to the new life your are bringing within us and around us. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Blessings to you and yours,
Pastor Jeff
