For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Dear ,
A brush stroke here. A touch of color there. Ta-da! A masterpiece has been created. Okay, maybe it is not that easy. On Sunday one of the young children defined a masterpiece as "something someone worked really hard at and it turned out really good." Guess, what? That is you!
You are God's masterpiece. God worked really hard to create you and God looked at you and said "it is good." (Check out Genesis 1) In a world where we seem to be surrounded by people and media that continually tells us that we need to do this or look like this to be good, to matter, God takes one look at us and says "You are my masterpiece and I have good things planned for you to do!" Let that sink in for just a minute. Isn't it an incredible feeling.
When we turn to faith, instead of society, to find our worth, to find out if we matter, we have a solid rock to stand on when the fear of mattering rears its ugly head. We can hear God saying, "Of course you matter! You are my masterpiece!" Then we can begin to live in freedom of this fear and concentrate on being all that God wants us to be. We can do the good things he planned for us, not to prove that we matter but because we matter. We can live in freedom to let others know they matter as well for all of God's children are masterpieces and we all matter to God.
Creator God,
The fear of mattering is so very real and can paralyze us from living the life you meant for us. Help us to truly hear and believe that we are your masterpiece's. Help us to live in freedom of your love so that we can joyfully and confidently do the good things you planned for us. Be with those who so desperately need to hear that they matter. Help us to be the messengers of this good news! Amen
