Dear ,
It was the first weekend of our Antidotes for an Out-of-Control Life series when I was greeting people after worship. "Spot-On!" she said as she talked about this series and her life. Can you identify? Is your life also at times out of control?
We began the series remembering the Baptism of Jesus and how the heavens were torn apart and the Spirit descended upon Jesus. The first antidote to our out of control lives is remembering the truth that we are declared beloved children of God. We don't need to be constantly striving to get love, for you , are forever held with heavenly love.
As we continue following Jesus through the early passages of Mark's gospel, we see people whose lives and loved ones are out-of-control in various ways like the man "deeply disturbed" in the synagogue (Mark 1:21-28). And Jesus is active in their lives to intervene and bring the kingdom of God. Today I hope that you'll be able to experience the fact that the Spirit is at work in your life, much like in the gospel story. Take a few moments now to slow down, choose carefully, trust God, and simplify your life. . . so that you might see clearly, listen carefully, think deeply, enjoy life fully, and serve God effectively. Let God break into your out-of-control life and bring you grace & peace.
