Antidotes for an Out of Control Life

Dear ,

Here in Aberdeen, the overnight precipitation and colder temperatures covered the streets with a white frosting making it easy to slip and slide. It's so easy to get out of control driving today.

And it's not just driving on winter roads that finds us out-of-control. Everyday life, with all the demands and duties, all the things to do, people to see, places to go can be overwhelming.

Starting this weekend, as we worship together, we'll be looking to Jesus to learn from him about Antidotes for an Out-of-Control Life. You'll want to share in this series if you'd like to grow in your faith as well as tap into God's guidance for your life.

As you navigate through your day, apply a winter driving tactic to your faith. Slow down a bit. Let the ancient words of Psalm 46 re-center you this day:

"Be still, and know that I am God!

I am exalted among the nations,

I am exalted in the earth."

The Lord of hosts is with us;

the God of Jacob is our refuge.

May the Lord bless and keep you this slippery day, and every day.

Winter Carnival

Bethlehem Lutheran Church

Join us for food, face painting, inflatables, and games. You will also have the opportunity to make Valentines for troops who are serving overseas. There will also be a preschool open house during this time. This FREE event is for everyone, so invite your friends, neighbors and co-workers and join us for a wonderful time of fun & fellowship!

S.A.L.T.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 5 that "we are the salt of the earth." The Learning Bible states: "Salt was used to flavor food and to keep it from spoiling. Jesus was telling his followers to help others, just as the salt helps the taste of food." Therefore, let us be the S.A.L.T. here in Aberdeen.

Serving and Learning Together (S.A.L.T.) is a new ministry starting at Bethlehem in which we can come together to help serve and learn from others throughout our community. S.A.L.T. ministry is a way to connect with God and with one another. You are welcome to come once, or each month. Come with your family, a friend or by yourself. We will gather together the third Saturday of each month from
10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. We ask children under 10 be accompanied by an adult.

Upcoming S.A.L.T. ministry opportunities:

On January 21 we will be Serving and Learning Together at Kids against Hunger. This opportunity is for anyone 2 years of age or older. All children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Contact Jodi to sign up or for more information.
