Quotes of the Week

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear. You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.

Dear Barn Families and Friends,
Last weekend, the CLS barn family gathered en masse at our Annual Fall Charity Fun Show. And while the final tally is still being figured and collected, I am so tickled to announce that we raised MORE THAN $6,000 for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital! And in addition, our babies shined with power, sportsmanship, beauty, talent, and youthful exuberance!
I am constantly amazed by our collective power. I perused the UTNE Reader magazine before going to sleep last night, and the editor wondered about our country's leaders -- and what's wrong with them. He asked, "Where are today's pure hearts?"
I snuggled deeper in bed and smiled. We are raising a barn full of them -- pure-hearted children who are growing up with loving, giving hearts and open minds. Today's leaders worry me. Tomorrow's leaders -- the ones I know and love, and am blessed to help nurture -- they're a wonderful new breed.
Parker
Enjoy photos on the right from the Fun Show! And don't forget to click on our Shutterfly site to see many more!
Also, Little Bits Dad Duane Clonch took fantastic photos from center ring during the show. He is donating the proceeds from any photos ordered from the show to St. Jude's. Duane is uploading the pictures today (Friday, Oct. 28) and we'll provide the link on Facebook as soon as they are ready and we'll also put it in next week's newsletter. You'll be able to order either order online, or drop a check with the proof number on it in the CLS office. Checks can be made payable to Duane Clonch.
Special thanks to Max Ciampoli
(bottom right) of St. Louis, MO for judging our show. And thank you to all of our Moms, Dads, and grandparents for volunteering to help us throughout the day!!
Special thanks to Madonna Wright, Michelle Lovell and Anita Wright of The Carving Board for the incredible concessions!

Fall Fun Show a Big Success The Fall Fun Show was incredible and we thank every single one of you for coming out, having a blast and helping to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. As Parker reported in her letter (above) we raised more than $6,000 to help seriously ill children. And we certainly had fun doing it! Thank you, everyone!

Carley Ramey designed our fabulous "Peace and Love" t-shirts for the Fun Show this year and in doing so, she's raised over $1100.

Congratulations are due to 35 CLS Riders who have earned Academy Medals this year through ASHA (American Saddlebred Horse Association). This is the largest number of Academy Medals CLS has EVER earned in one year! And we think it's the most medals any barn has ever won in a single year! Yahoo!!
Master Bronze Medal Margaret Bassett, Felicia Elliott, Emily Stokes, Jozy Unal Gold Medal Terra Johns, Sadie McAuley, Avery Rose McCutcheon, Adriana Peacock, Merrick Semans Silver Medal Ritter Dodson, Willard Dodson, Elizabeth Marshall, Sara Musser, Madelaine Seeber, Elizabeth Stewart, Kim Stewart, Bella Wiese and Gena Wright Bronze Medal Gracie Bargoil, Chanler Cook, Blair Huff, Kylie Jankowicz, Lily Jordan, Christy Lauffenburger, Raelyn Long, Emma Grace Lovell, Alaya McCarter, Lizzy Miller, Morgan Miller, Taylor Moore, Carley Ramey, Kayla Rickmon, Brenna Smith, Emma Soucy and Victoria Voletto How did they do it? Each rider must accumulate 15 "points" by either riding or driving in Fun Shows, Winter Tournaments or sanctioned Academy shows any time between October 1, 2010 and September 30, 2011. One point is given for participation, one point for earning 2nd through 8th place and two points for earning 1st place in any given show.
Great job everyone!! A big thank you to Kim Stewart for keeping up with our Show Points and for making it possible for these riders to receive their medals. In the past, certificates for award winners have been given out at the annual convention. This year's ASAC Academy Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012. If it is like they have done in the past, the certificates will be distributed early in the evening and will be at the Embassy Suites in Concord, NC.
The medals will be given out at the American Saddlebred Horse Association Convention and Youth Conference in Lexington, KY. The convention dates are in February. We'll have more information to come on all of this. |
Horse of Her Dreams! Lindsay's Exciting News!
If you've met longtime Cash Lovell rider Lindsay Jones -- and talked with her for more than 10 seconds -- you'll likely know that Metro is Lindsay's favorite horse of all time. This special lady, and this incredible horse, are bonded in a way that we've rarely seen. And in all the years in this old barn, we've seen many horses and children bond. But Metro seems to yearn for Lindsay as much as she yearns for and depends on him.
So on Oct. 22, Lindsay became the formal owner of Metro. As her barn family gathered round, Metro was presented to her. Lindsay couldn't breathe or see through all the tears of joy!
Happy 18th Sweet Lindsay. Metro is ready to go to college with you!

Longtime Cash Lovell Rider Sarah Martin Raises $2,450 to Help Feed The Orphans
As an equitation show rider, Sarah was asked to participate in The United Professional Horseman's Association's Ribbons of Service program. So for each time that Sarah showed in an equitation class during 2011, she raised money for a charity of her choice. Sarah asked her sponsors to help her raise money for the Feed The Orphans international relief organization. By combining her own hard work with the backing of her sponsors, Sarah raised nearly $2500 during the 2011 show season. We're so proud of you Sarah!! Thank you to all of the barn family members who supported Sarah! |

Fall Cleaning Anyone??
We go through SO many towels looking after all these horses -- and cleaning their tack. So even if it looks TERRIBLE, and you think NO ONE would want that old, ugly, stained, ripped towel -- WE WANT IT!!!
Just drop them off in our office! We, and our horses, will thank you!

A Special Thank You to Our Pony Ride Volunteers!
We have to send a special thank you to ALL of you who have helped with one of our community pony rides. We are so thankful to everyone for spending their time to give someone else the joy and thrill of riding a horse!

The Seebers are Selling Horsey Water Bottles to Help St. Jude - Get Yours Today! Madeleine Seeber and her barn mom par excellence Rebecca have created some horsey water bottles and are selling them to benefit St. Jude. They are the darndest things -- completely safe from harmful chemicals, and they lay out flat as a pancake -- so easy for packing!
And making them even more precious is the art work, drawn by Madelaine! She came up with the text, too, which says, "Horses are teachers from heaven."
With Christmas coming, these would make incredible stocking stuffers -- and all to benefit a wonderful cause! Each water bottle is $10 and you can order them in the front office. Thank you so much to the Seebers for their creativity! Great job!

We're Getting our Ducks in a Row With a New Accounting and Scheduling System - Yee ha!
As we reported last week, we're in the middle of installing a brand new scheduling and accounting system that will bring us into the 21st century. Hooray! And of course, we need your help. Be on the look-out for an email about your new Log-in information. Once you get your log-in information, please go into your new account and update your contact information immediately. This is really important! Your rider's lessons won't be able to be entered in the system until we have your updated information! It should take just a couple of minutes. Promise! Each rider will have their own log-in information so you can see their upcoming riding schedule, find out about upcoming events, schedule makeup lessons and more. One other note: If you are currently paying for your riding lessons via a bank draft, please stop by the office and give us a Debit Card instead. The new system will be require a Debit Card instead of a bank draft. If you don't have a Debit Card, don't worry. There are other options, and we will get with you before we make the official switch -- set for Dec.1! Lots more to come on this. Thank you for your patience while we get everything up and running smoothly. It's going to be wonderful! |
