Quotes of the Week

" Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." -Brian Littrell "Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful." -Mark Victor Hansen

Now that we're all back in town, it's time to remind riders, moms, dads and especially little brothers and sisters about being safe in the barn. Please be mindful of horses that are moving from the stalls into the ring and give them extra room. Also be very careful when crossing from the hall to the office -- we have lesson riders practicing there on a daily basis. Also, please mark your calendars for Friday, Nov. 18th. This will be our annual CLS Safety Mandatory Safety Meeting for all CLS barn helpers! More details to follow.
Granny's on the mend!
Our beloved office manager, Jeanne, aka Grannie, has been out with back issues. When you see her, let her know we're all pulling for her speedy revcovery!
I've missed seeing so many of you with all of our travels! I can hardly wait to see you, at the barn!

Lovell's Little Bits Fun Friday Fun Friday meetings will
resume Friday, Sept. 23!!
You can sign up online or at the barn. Please mark your calendars as the nationally-acclaimed Little Bits Youth Club gears back up after the summer break! All CLS riders are invited and encouraged to attend.
See you Friday evening, Sept. 23, from 6:00 to 9:00pm
Fee for attending THIS incredible Fun Friday event is $10 per child.
(Please note that the normal fee for Fun Fridays is $20 per meeting. However, for this first meeting of the Fall season, we're charging $10 per child. A donation jar will be out at the registration desk, however. We're asking that parents consider donating the additional $10 per child to our Soldier's Project. Next month, we will make and send care packets to US soldiers stationed overseas. Little Bit Brenna Smith's father is stationed overseas. He is in charge of a group of young servicemen -- many of whom never receive goody baskets from home. We aim to fix that. Watch your newsletters for more details on next month's project!)

A little inspiration ... We are wild about this gorgeous painting of one of our riders Raelyn Long with Dribbles. The painting is entitled "Bringing Home the Blue" -- and was done by local artist Nanette Long (336-817-1840). Raelyn is Nanette's granddaughter and one of our newest Academy show riders.
The portraint is on display in Bethania at The Bethania Mill and Shoppes, www.bethaniamillandvillageshoppes.com
ASHAV - September 28-October 1
Lexington, VA
The ASHAV Horse Show is a rider favorite. Sign up in the barn now!

The Sassy Express -- you gotta love it! -- was one of the incredible golf carts created for the World Championship Horse Show in Louisville, KY. We'll have lots of pictures from the World Championships in our next email. |

From Parker: There's a program in lots of the school now, and it may be in yours, called D.E.A.R. and it means Drop Everything and Read. I love this especially when we're all so busy this time of year. And even though we're busy, in our house we're aiming for a D.E.A.R. moment every day. There's nothing like a great book!
Here are some suggestions from our Barn Moms: Jill Raines recommends: The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels-- "Jill says, "It's a true story and very funny." Amazon summary:
"It's a universal tale of passion, romance, and all-encompassing love that sweeps us off our feet. It's the story of a cowboy. And Wranglers. And chaps. And the girl who fell in love with them. " Crystal Ramey recommends: 90 Minutes in Heaven by Donald Piper. Amazon summary: As he is driving home from a minister's conference, Baptist minister Don Piper collides with a semi-truck that crosses into his lane. He is pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, Piper experiences heaven where he is greeted by those wh o had influenced him spiritually. He hears beautiful music and feels true peace.
Back on earth, a passing minister who had also been at the conference is led to pray for Don even though he knows the man is dead. Piper miraculously comes back to life and the bliss of heaven is replaced by a long and painful recovery.
For years Piper kept his heavenly experience to himself. Finally, however, friends and family convinced him to share his remarkable story.
