Dear CLS Families and Friends,
I have never been more proud to make an announcement. Our Lovell's
Little Bits raised $6,000 for Make-A-Wish - enough money to make one special,
very sick child's greatest dream come true!
We did it! Our Little Bits raised the full $6,000 for Make-A-Wish. We'll be making a child's dream come true!
 | Our Fun Show on Saturday, Sept. 25, was the culmination of
weeks of hard - and oh so fun! -- fundraising work by our children, and entire
barn family. Car washes, bake sales, lemonade stands, walking door to door. We did it all. And we did it for a
child we haven't yet met, but whose life serves as an example to us all.
I have a little sign that sits beside my bed. I start my day
reading it every morning. "You are blessed, so be a blessing."
I love that. As a reporter, I used to think that being a
blessing to the world meant chasing down bad guys and writing about them.
But after we reached our amazing fundraising goal at the end
of the fun show, and a posse of kids chased me down and slammed me with whipped
cream pies, I had this funny vision. It was of a group of gnarly, skeptical,
brash ol' newspapermen walking in my barn at that moment. I could just see them
falling out belly laughing at the sight of me, their razor-edged reporter
friend who has been replaced by a big, fat, whipped-cream covered barn Mama -
happy as if I had good sense! I'm so glad it was only a vision! Those ol' boys
would never let me hear the end of it!
To each of you who worked on behalf of the Little Bits and
Make-A-Wish, I am truly thankful to you. Because of you, our children are
learning to count their blessings, and BE blessings. What an amazing legacy for
us all.

 Little Bits Volunteers needed! On Friday, Oct. 15th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, we need Little Bit parents and riders to help us give Free Pony Rides at the Clemmons Elementary School Fall Carnival. Got Boots?
Lots of young riders are looking for boots and show boots that are gently used. If you have boots in the back of your closet that are too tight for your rider, please send them on over and we may be able to put a little cash in your pocket. Boots brought in for consignment should be cleaned and shined and have the consigner's name, phone and e-mail inside them. Thanks!
