"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment." ~ Jim Rohn
"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion." ~The Dalai Lama
"On my shoulders are two wolves. One is a mean wolf, evil, who continually tempts me to do and say the wrong things. On the other shoulder is a kind wolf that continually encourages me to live up to my very best. A listener asked, 'Which of these wolves is the strongest?' The old Indian replied, 'The one I feed.' " ~ Old Indian fable

Cash is in South Africa judging beautiful horses and whooping up a big time at the camel races. I'm home scooping poop, chasing barn babies, buying icy pops, plotting a massive fly extermination, and getting daily hugs from the most beautiful babies in the world! He can just go right on with himself. I'm clearly the lucky one!!
May is a HUGE month, hang on tight! First up: the Asheville Spring Show(May 14-15) followed by Asheville Lions show(May 19-22). The same magnificent setting for two incredible shows! You can register for one, or both!, on the "horse show" page on the website, sign up on the bulletin board at the barn, or simply e-mail me. Whatever is easiest for you!
Lots to read about below: Little Bit Sarah Martin's big new internship this summer, our Mother's Day Fun Friday (complete with the most adorable gift we're making for our Mamas), Cash's judging experience in South Africa, our Race for the Cure - CLS Race Team (thank you Sonya Marion) and so much more. Results From The Little Raleigh Show Note from Parker: We were a little unsure about going to Raleigh two months in a row. But since Cash was judging during the time that we're normally showing in S.C. in April, we decided to give this new Raleigh show a try. We dubbed it "Little Raleigh" but the show was far from little -- in any way. Joyce Wilson, the show's incredible manager and longtime CLS friend, simply outdid herself. Free hot dogs and barbeque suppers, wonderfully competitive classes, and the friendliest most accommodating staff in the business! The CLS riders were in top form, garnering scores of ribbons and championships! Way to go Team CLS! We thank everyone who came out for the Annual Lovell's Little Bits Charity Spring Fun Show -- held this year in conjunction with the Oak Ridge Horse Show! We had a fantastic crowd and we want to thank ALL the families and riders who came out for a great day. |
Some parting thoughts from Parker:
Such a cutie! Sweet Mia taking a birthday party ride!

Some of the best moments in my world come when I receive a letter, email or call from a parent. Sometimes it's the grandparents who reach out. When the days are long, these random acts of kindness make all the difference. My close friends know that I face an internal struggle. In my former life, as a newspaper reporter, I loved knowing that my stories might enlighten or somehow make a small difference in the world. And honestly, I miss that role terribly.
But then a child will hug me, or a little unexpected note will be sitting in my inbox that reassures me. Below is one such note, from the very special grandparents of a very special Little Bit.
Dear Parker: We just wanted to say "THANK YOU" for such a terrific experience with our Emily this Saturday!!! A special thanks for all the time, energy, & love you put into "our" Emily, as well as; everything you do with all of the CLS children and their families. Your outreach is soooooo important in our communities, we can't thank you enough! We are so fortunate to have you and Cash!! Emily came home with us and spent the night and played "horse show" with the neighbor kids till they got sick of playing & left!!! LOL Then she played another hour and a half of "horse show" with us!!! We hope you got some much needed rest and had a Happy Easter!! People like you who take a genuine interest in our children are very rare and "very special". Again, thank you so much. Tom & Lorie Skiba
The thanks go to you Tom and Lorie -- for bringing sweet Emily into our lives, and for reminding me that making a difference in the life of the child is the best way to change the world.
Parker
