"Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them,
is the true measure of our thanksgiving."

W.T. Purkiser

"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit."

Friends
sadie and KathrynI took two naps last weekend. To you, this isn't banner news. But for me, this is MONUMENTAL!!!

1. I never have time to take naps.
2. It means I survived another Summer/Show Season and things are slowing down!

You never know. This weekend, I might get really wild and clean out the bathroom drawers!

Oh no. Forget that. I've got a Christmas Party to plan!!! Please see below for all of the details. But right now, stop. Go to your planner and enter CLS CHRISTMAS PARTY, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12 on your calendar, from 9:30 to 1:00 pm.  This is my family's big gift to you, our barn family. And it's crazy fun! So please, please come!

Since I last wrote, several amazing things have happened. Our Academy Nationals Team competed in the Academy Nationals in Murfreesboro, TN. We brought home bunches of ribbons, and great memories. But we also brought home Swine Flu, and Strep Throat! It took about two weeks for all to recover, but we're healthy as horses once again.  Our annual Fall Charity Fun Show was a huge success, raising $2,000 for our charities in one afternoon. And our Little Bits Fun Friday Scavenger Hunt was the wildest and trickiest yet!  Check out all the great photos at www.cashlovellstables.shutterfly.com.

Just in time for the Holidays, the CLS Tack Shop is brimming with great gifts. And by Dec. 1, we will have a new CLS Vest and Shirt in stock and for sale. These are absolutely the cutest EVER! If I do say, I've outdone myself!

Enjoy your beautiful families this Thanksgiving. As Americans, we are among the most blessed people ever to live. Let's help our children to understand, and appreciate.

See you at the barn!

Cash Lovell invited to Judge South African Show
south african flagExciting news -- Cash has been asked to judge the South African National Championships in April 2010. This will be his second time judging this prestigious international event!

Many of our riders don't know Cash's background. He's one of a select group of horsemen in the country to have his "Large R" judging certification in several disciplines from the United States Equestrian Federation. He's a third generation horse trainer, who's trained more Cash Lovellthan 40 World Champion horses in his career. He's best known as a trainer of amateur and juvenile show horses, but he's also a highly sought after judge.

Cash has been unable to accept offers to judge the World Championship Horse Show held in Louisville, KY each year because he prefers showing the horses he trains in this show. But Cash doesn't show his horses in South Africa! So for the second time in six years, he's been able to accept this illustrious judging assignment.

Vote in the Saddlebred "People's Choice Awards"
peoples_choice_logoDon't forget to vote in Horse World Magazine's "People's Choice Awards." You can go to the ballot by clicking here.  It's a little confusing, so you may want to print out the "Official Unofficial Cash Lovell Crib Sheet" to help in some of the categories. Naturally, you can vote however you want to. Plus, you can leave some categories empty.

To download the "Crib Sheet", click here.

Deadline for the Story Writing Challenge - Win a Prize!
Forsyth Family LogoAll Cash Lovell Stables riders are invited to submit a story for our writing contest.  Submissions are due on or before the CLS Holiday Party on Saturday, December 12. There are no rules for entry, no guidelines. We simply want our babies to write, and draw, and express themselves on paper.  ALL of the submissions will be on display during the party.

The winning book will be scanned and published in one of the early 2010 issues of Forsyth Family magazine. This author of the winning entry also will have their work framed and on display in the CLS office.  CLS staff members will be the judges.

Please, please, encourage your child to participate, regardless of age!

A note from Parker:

two girls at nationalsAs teams go, the 2009 Academy Nationals Team is truly exceptional.  I can't say that this team brought home more Championships than any CLS Team in history, but they certainly earned them. To a child, the 2009 CLS Academy Team rode the hair off our horses! Ms. Jeanine and Ms. Kathryn, along with Cash and I, simply beamed as we watched our children ride from their hearts, with a correctness of form and fire of spirit, that was stunning and contagious. We brought home our share of championship ribbons - the most of any other North Carolina, South Carolina or Virginia barn, in fact. But more than that, we formed a bond with each other that I am certain, in many, many cases, will last a lifetime. Please join us in celebrating our amazing young team members, who competed with 705 of the best young riders from across the country.

See Amy and Bryce Elliott in A Play
December 3, 4, 10, 11 and 12
7:00 pm -- Dinner and Dessert Theater $20 per ticket
amy_elliottSpecial note from Amy Elliott:
The name of the play is "The Nebula of Georgia" written by a local playwrite (who'll be attending opening nite the 3rd) about a southern family in Peabody, Georgia and the family secrets that we southerners keep. It's hysterically funny at times, and touching at others.

This from Amy:
"The tickets are $20 apiece and pay for the "dessert & theatre". It is at The Grey Wing Studio in Walkertown, a small art gallery owned by Patti Sheets. All the proceeds are going to cancer research. 2/3 of $ will go to the Derrick Davis Cancer Center in W-S and the remaining 1/3 is going to the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation (that's my cancer).  Bryce and I are both in the play and would love to have some "barn family" support! Show dates are December 3 & 4, 10,11,12 at 7pm. BryceDoors open at 6:30. It's a small intimate venue that only seats about 35-40 people at small tables scattered around the gallery."

"For tickets, call 595-3553 or 287-6929 to purchase tickets & reserve your seats. I know there is one large table that probably seats 8-10 folks, so if you want to come "en masse" see if that one's available. Most of the other tables are 4 seaters, some 2 seaters. Thanks so much to anyone who comes! As you know, leiomyosarcoma receives no funding from the National Cancer Institute and is completely reliant on fundraisers and donations to conduct research.  My goal is to keep this "dragon" at bay until a cure if found!"

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!! I love you guys! Amy 345-4680
