March 2009
Debbie, the true sport!
A Note from Parker -- 3.11.09
girl with horseFun! Fun! Fun! Yes, fun is what Cash Lovell Stables is all about. We always say that horses raise great kids -- but great Moms (like Debbie Mansfield above) usually end up having a blast too!

March is an especially exciting time at the barn. Our Fun Show is just around the corner, plus lots of Spring Shows and we're even getting fired up for our Summer Camps!
I'm told by Ellen Bassett, our newsletter designer, to get to the point. Hit people with what they need to know quickly. Stop rambling. So here's what you should know:
  • Sign up NOW for the Little Bits Charity Fun Show -- Saturday, March 21st at the barn. It's open to all CLS riders.  Read below for more info.
  • If you're a Show Rider, sign up NOW for the Clinic with Sheri Brandl on the Friday night before the Fun Show.
  • Entry deadlines are approaching for the J.D. Massey and Asheville shows
  • Sign up now for our fun Summer Camps! To make your reservation, e-mail Ms. Charlene at parklv9@aol.com.
  • Ms. Krista's baby foal is on the way to making a full recovery!
  • New riding gloves are now available (even in itsy bitsy little sizes). We also have a good supply of helmets too.
We look forward to seeing you at the barn. Enjoy this incredible Spring weather -- before it snows again!
Best wishes,
Parker

Lovell's Little Bits Annual Spring Charity Fun Show -- A MUST for everyone in the Cash Lovell Family!
funshowHelp our Little Bits raise big money for hungry horses and handicapped children!

spring show logoTwice a year, we gather for a horse show at CLS. All of our riders are urged to participate, to enjoy the thrill of riding for a supportive crowd and to help raise money for our favorite charities: Riverwood Therapeutic Riding Center and HERO, which rescues abuses and abandoned horses.

On March 21, at 1 pm, we need you! This spring's show will be even more special because of our incredible judge, Ms. Sheri Brandl, from Oconomowoc, WI.  It takes three things to participate:
  1. Sign up at the barn.
  2. Ask your friends and neighbors to sponsor your ride with donations. Sponsorship Forms are available on our web site by clicking here.  At the bottom of the page, click Sponsorship Form for Fun Show.
  3. Pay a $75 entry fee -- a portion of which also goes to our charities.

Then simply bring your lawn chairs, wear your everyday lesson clothes, and come and enjoy! Come hungry too. We're grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. And all of Ms. Melanie's Concession Stand proceeds go to our charities, too!

For more details about the Fun Show, click here or talk to your instructor. You don't want to miss this Cash Lovell Stables legendary event. See you at the show and thanks everyone!

Foal Update- fantastic news!
foalupdateShe's making an incredible recovery!
That sweet foal!It is nearly impossible to believe that the tiny little baby who was born at CLS over a month ago has grown into such a big girl!

Many of you know that this little one, nicknamed "Pearl", had a rough time. She suffered a head injury, then her mom rejected her. But after spending two weeks at N.C. State's School of Veterinary Medicine, and being nursed back to health by so many CLS moms (pictured here with Susan Cearley), this little booger is making a full recovery!

She bucks, and she runs. Dr. Meeker, our local vet, cannot believe her progress. She eats milk pellets like crazy. Adores alfalfa hay. And loves her "itchy" spot scratched. Yesterday, she kicked up her heals and whinnied when we tried to walk away from her. Spoiled rotten!

Soon, little Pearl will be strong enough to go to a farm in Pennsylvania, where she will live with other foals. Otherwise, the doctors tell us, she won't learn the skills she will need to be a horse. She will run in open, green pastures. And she will live a normal, wonderful life -- thanks to you and your prayers.
Emily's Great Surprise!
 A Horse Dream Come True . . .
Diane's Beach Ride
Emily McKay is the luckiest girl in the world. If you don't believe it, just ask her! Emily's parents, Leigh-Ann and Jeff, surpised her this month with a horse of her very own! His show name is Kalarama's Memorable. But we call him "Dino." Emily and Dino are preparing for an exciting first year of showing together. When you see Emily at the barn, she'll be thrilled to introduce you to her new boy. You can't miss her. Emily's trademark smile is even wider these days!

Beach Ride -- Another Dream Come True
CLS Adult Student Rides the Beaches in "Total Freedom" Diane's Beach Ride
In the fall, Diane Dull signed up for a continuing education class at CLS, offered through Salem College. She was pursuing a lifelong dream of learning to ride.

Diane loved riding so much that when the six-week class ended, she signed up for regular lessons with Mr. Wallace.

She's become such an accomplished rider that Diane and her husband were able to make another lifelong dream come true recently: they rode horses on the beach!  Congratulations, Diane! You are an inspiration to us all!
Little Bit in the Spotlight
This Little Bit is All Grown Up -- and Teaching

In the spotlight this month is a Little Bit who grew up riding at CLS. In fact, when we opened the public riding school nearly 20 years ago, she was our first student!

Jenna Miller, niece of Cash and Parker Lovell, is soon to enter school to become a dental hygienist. And while she's in school, Jenna also will teach beginner riders at CLS. Jenna is quite the accomplished equestrian, earning scores of Academy wins and ASAC High Point honors back in her showing days.

Please help us welcome Jenna. I know she's ours, but I can't help but brag. She's smart, beautiful, and sweet, and her smile lights a room! We're so tickled that you've joined us Jenna. P.S. If you hear us calling her "GG" that's her nickname!

CLS Riders win High Point Awards
Jake winning at the Southeastern Hackney MeetingTo the right is the ever-handsome Jake Butts, after earning the High Point Award for his division from the Southeastern Hackney Association for his show ring performances throughout 2008.

Also earning high point awards from the organization was Lindsay Jones. Way to go guys!
