SCAM warning!
A number of members have contacted us about an email they have received recently, which we suspect may well be a scam.
The email seems to come from a person in China (frequently called Robin Gregory) who claims to be coming over for a holiday to the UK, and wants to book some reflexology for themselves and their husband. They go on to say that they'd like to book a number of treatments (in the examples I saw, it was three treatments each), and would like to pay in advance for treatment via their 'associate in the United Kingdom'.
All of the examples of this email we have seen have been sent to reflexologists in very different parts of the country, with exactly the same wording. Our advice is to steer clear of emails like this one, and be highly suspicious of anyone wanting to pay for several treatments in advance without meeting you or even speaking to you over the telephone first. Never supply personal details or your bank details to anyone you do not have a compelling reason to trust, and, as they say on the television - if it sounds too good to be true...it usually is! |

World Reflexology Week
Following another fantastically successful World Reflexology Week, the Association of Reflexologists would like to say "Well done and thank you!" to everyone for all your hard work and support of reflexology. We've seen some fantastic pictures of your events on Facebook and Twitter, and hope you enjoyed your activities as much as we enjoyed ours (the reflexology for staff was divine!) AoR members took part in over 90 events around the country. |

Goodbye to Sian and hello to Lauren
As those of you who follow us on Twitter and Facebook will already know, on Friday 30th September, the AoR staff team bid a fond farewell and good luck to Sian Binding, our Junior Administrator, who is leaving the sunny shores of England to tour Australia. We're sure you'll join with us in sending good vibes her way, and in wishing her all the best for her travels.
We're also delighted to welcome our new Junior Administrator Lauren, who will be taking over Sian's duties around the office from 3rd October. It has been an absolute pleasure to meet her and we're sure that she'll settle into the AoR 'family' in no time at all! We look forward to working with her, and are sure our members will offer her a warm welcome if they catch her on the phone or emails.

A new Board member
The AoR are also pleased to welcome Helen Neal as the newest addition to our Board. We look forward to working with her and benefitting from her expertise and guidance in this role. Before joining the AoR Board, Helen was a Fellow member of the AoR. |

Summer School 2013
We are currently looking at running a Summer School in May 2013 and would love to know your feedback on what you would like to see covered and which location would be best overall. Please could you take the time to answer a few short questions? The survey will close on Friday 21st October, so please reply before this date.

Reflexions Extra and September's archive edition of Reflexions available from 13th October on your Members' Area
Your archive electronic edition of Reflexions will become available on the Members' Area with the release of a new edition of Reflexions Extra on 13th October.
As you may know, Reflexions Extra, in addition to the archived audio version and electronic version of the magazine, are released up to one month later than the paper copy of Reflexions is scheduled to land on your doorsteps. This is to ensure that the same care and attention can go into their creation as for the paper magazine. |

Never mind the sunshine - the AoR are thinking about Christmas already!
With all of the beautiful weather we seemed to be having recently, it seems a little odd that we're thinking about Christmas already - however, did you know that your magazine Reflexions is always written one season ahead of when you receive it?
Whilst working on December's edition, we decided to pull out all the stops and provide you with what must surely be the first Christmas present of the season - an early Christmas edition of Reflexions!
Look out for it on your doorsteps around the 22nd November (or if you receive the paper free copy in the week of the 14th November!)

| Paper free Reflexions
As you know, the AoR have been trialling the provision of Reflexions electronically for those of you who prefer to receive it in this medium. The AoR would like to thank members for their feedback regarding the new electronic version of Reflexions, and to let our members know that we are currently in communication with our publishers to provide an even more accessible and fun-to-read version for December's edition - which will, as with September's edition, be delivered to the email inboxes of those people who have signed up for the scheme before the paper copy lands on other members' doorsteps!
If you're interested in receiving our environmentally friendly, paper free version of Reflexions, contact us at info@aor.org.uk and we'll make sure that you receive your early copies direct to your inbox every quarter. |

Fancy writing for Reflexions? Go on, have a go!

Writing for Reflexions might seem pretty daunting at first, but remember - no matter whether you're a student or someone with many years of experience behind them, there's at least one aspect of being a reflexologist that you know well, which other members would want to read about!
We're always looking for articles from our members, so if you have a story that you think might fit the bill, why not give writing a try? You could end up as a published contributor! If you'd like to write something but are a little unsure of your ideas, your editor Laura Occleston is available at any time in the working week to answer your questions, talk you through your approach or simply to bounce ideas with - simply call the main office number (01823 351010) or email her at info@aor.org.uk and step into the published world today!
The main themes and deadlines for 2012's Reflexions are as follows:
March 2012 - Main theme: The Digestive System - Deadline: 9th January 2012
June 2012 - Main theme: Pallative care - Deadline: 2nd April 2012
September 2012 - Main theme: Foot Reading - Deadline: 25th June 2012
December 2012 - Main theme: More unusual conditions and autoimmune conditions - Deadline: TBC
