World Reflexology Week (WRW)

A big thank you to all practitioners who have planned events, taster and discounted treatments during World Reflexology Week. There are now over 60 events featured on our WRW web page. The AoR is currently running a Facebook advertising campaign to highlight WRW and to direct consumers to events in their area. There is publicity planned in some regional newspapers and our media department is currently busy responding to requests for interviews - so watch this space and keep us posted on your own publicity efforts.

Electronic Renewals/Reminders and Reflexions

Members have requested for some time that the AoR offer paper-free (email) membership renewals/reminders and Reflexions magazines to help the environment. We are very pleased to announce that we are now able to offer this to all members.

Members that choose paper free renewals will not receive renewal and reminder documents through the mail, but will still receive their membership card by mail.

Members that choose paper free Reflexions will receive their copies of Reflexions by email only, before the paper copy arrives for other members.

If you would like to choose paper-free renewals/reminders and/or Reflexions,  please confirm this by emailing info@aor.org.uk with your name and membership number.

AoR achieves successful meeting with ASA/CAP

ASA logoTracey Smith, together with representatives from the FHT and the Bowen technique, met with the Director of Investigations Miles Lockwood of the ASA and representatives of his team in mid August. We are happy to say that through this successful discussion the ASA have agreed to work with us on certain issues pertaining to advertising. We felt very strongly that it was important to be eliciting change from working with them rather against them.

It may sometimes seem that we are not actively fighting on certain issues, but in fact we are constantly working to influence on all levels on your behalf.  We just prefer to let you know final outcomes rather than every step of the process. Rather like a swan, we look serene on top while pedalling fiercely underneath!

Professional uniforms with the AoR logo for members

Simon JerseyThe AoR have managed to set up a logo which all Honorary, Fellow and Full members are welcome to have embroidered on their choice of professional uniform items from Simon Jersey, a professional uniform supplier. This saves you over £40.00 of logo set up costs! To use the logo on your professional clothing, please follow the instructions below:

1) Have a look at www.simonjersey.com and identify which tunic/shirt/top you would like.

2) Write down the reference of the item. Please make sure you have noted the correct uniform measurements using their size guide and a tape measure. We suggest you purchase the correct size without a logo first, try it on, send it back and recieve a refund, and then re-order with the logo on it (step 3) once you are confident with the sizing. There are no refunds or exchanges on clothing with the logo on it. We have found that their sizes come up a little small.

3) Send the item reference, together with the picture reference number for the logo (3543), to either personalisation@simonjersey.comor to fax number 08444994454. Don't forget to quote the company name of Association of Reflexologists with the picture reference number. A top tip is to ask them to write back to you to confirm the price of your order and delivery details before you pay, as they do not normally invoice for these items.

The price for adding the logo to the garment should be in the region of £4.99 in addition to the price of the garment + p&p.

A possible new membership benefit? Have your say here!

As you know, the AoR are always looking for new benefits that might make our members' lives a little easier. Recently, the AoR have been looking into obtaining discounted rates for members to obtain a card terminal on which they could process client payments. However, in order to ensure that we are exploring avenues that would be of use to our members, we  would like you to decide if you want this benefit, and which setup you would most like to see offered.

To do this, please click here and answer our short questionnaire (three clicks and you're done!).

AoR collaborates with Paycare

Collaboration between Paycare and the AoR is bringing benefits to both organisations.

Paycare offers a range of healthcare benefits plans that include the opportunity for its policyholders to reclaim the costs of reflexology treatment.  The AoR represents professionally trained and qualified reflexologists.

Paycare Chief Executive, Gail Maltby said:  "Our substantial number of policyholders are entitled to claim back costs for reflexology treatment as part of their healthcare plans, which protects them against everyday healthcare costs.  By guiding our members to the AoR's 'Find a Reflexologist' search, we can be confident they will receive quality professional advice and treatment."

Echoing Gail's comments, the AoR's Chief Executive Carrie Story said: "Our relationship with Paycare is good news for our members.  The collaboration opens up new opportunities for our members and expands awareness of the advantages for people to engage with qualified reflexologists through a healthcare plan."
