October, 2010
Greetings!

I hope this message finds you well, keeping up on our candidates and well on your way to wrapping up 2010.

Please find below a brief list of important Neighborhood Health Plan (NHP) updates.
NHPNet (Version 1) Access Terminating Soon!
Last month we announced the "retirement" of the old version of our provider portal (NHPNet V1) effective November 15, 2010.

We have been busy since then, responding to access requests for those of you who decided not to wait but transition to the new version now. We thank you for making the change and hope you are enjoying the enhanced functionality of our new portal.

We continue to make adjustments concurrently, and our average response time for a claims status inquiry is now 30 seconds or less!.
The Authorization view was also modified to include diagnosis code descriptions.

Please remember that access to the old version of NHPNet will not be available after November 15th. Additionally, at least one User Administrator must be designated for all provider entities. The User Administrator will then grant role-based access to other staff within his/her provider entity.

Transitioning to the new NHPNet entails the following:
  1. The appointed User Administrator submits a completed one page application to NHP
  2. Concurrently, the User Administrator creates an NHPNet Version 2 account
  3. Upon approval from NHP, the User Administrator asks relevant staff to create  individual NHPNet Version 2 accounts as well
  4. The User Administrator reviews the requested access for their provider office staff and approve users at his/her discretion
  5. The provider entity begins using the new NHPNet!
The link below contains information on the User Administrator application process and how to access the new NHPNet.

Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Resources

The first round of provisions under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), the exemption of patient copayments and deductibles for select preventive care services, became effective earlier this month.

For new Commercial (including Commonwealth Choice) members enrolled in a new  plan with NHP on or after October 1, 2010 a provider copayment or a deductible for select preventive care and medical screenings is not required. For most existing NHP Commercial and Commonwealth Choice members, the copayment and deductible exemption begins for services rendered on or after January 1, 2011.
We continue our target notification and education efforts to affected NHP members (Commercial and Commonwealth Choice only) including reminders to bring a copy of our notification with them when visiting your office for a preventive care visit as evidence of the new copayment exemption.
A reminder that NHP offers various options for member eligibility verification, including our provider portal, NHPNet. Providers are strongly encouraged to verify eligibility at each encounter, including but not limited to while a member is hospitalized. Our Customer Care Center is also available to assist with questions at 800-462-5449.

To assist network providers, the following provider resources are now available:

Covered Preventive Services Grid

Preventive Services Payment Guidelines

 Provider Payment Guidelines

 A New Name for AccordantCare

We want to make you aware of a name change for AccordantCare, NHP's care partner for our coronary artery disease, chronic obstructive lung disease, and congestive heart failure disease management programs.

AccordantCare will be changing their parent company name to Alere and the new name will soon appear on member program communications and materials. There will be no change in the level or type of service NHP members receive. Both Alere and NHP are committed to providing the same compassionate and exceptional healthcare services our members receive today.

Alere services are offered at no additional cost to NHP members who benefit from around the clock access to the Alere staff for questions on any of these disease management programs.

 Thank You!
On behalf of the entire Provider Relations department and all of us at Neighborhood Health Plan, we thank you for the excellent care provided to our members and the continued collaboration extended to our staff.

Warmest Regards,

Ramona Bourguignon
