Halloween Safety Tips
trick treat bucketHalloween is an exciting time of year for kids, and to help ensure they have a safe holiday, here are some tips from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP):

Costumes: Plan costumes that are bright and reflective. Because masks can limit or block eyesight, consider non-toxic makeup and decorative hats as safer alternatives.

Pumpkin Carving: Small children can help by drawing a face with markers, while the carving is left to the parents. Consider using a flashlight or glow stick instead of a candle to light your pumpkin.

Home Safe Home: keep homes safe for visiting trick-or-treaters by clearing the porch and yard of anything a child could trip over such as hoses, toys, and bikes. Wet leaves should be swept from sidewalks and steps.

On the Trick-or-Treat Trail: Pedestrian injuries are the most common injuries to children on Halloween. Remain on well-lit streets and always use the sidewalk. Only cross the street as a group in established crosswalks.

Healthy Halloween: A good meal prior to parties and trick-or-treating will discourage kids from filling up on treats. Try to ration treats for the days following Halloween.

Managers' Corner - Linda Zeringer, CFO
The accounting department at Fidelity Associates is proud of the long term employment of our team: Kathleen Apel - 12 years; Diane Huber - 19 years; Linda Zeringer - 20 years; and Ann Kolbeck - 24 years. With this length of service, I believe that our accounting team is one of the best in the industry. This team has also been able to Linda Zeringerabsorb all the additional workload of Fidelity as it has grown over the last 20 years. I am proud to say that we have not had to add to our staffing because of this increase in efficiency. One of the ways we continue to increase our efficiency is through use of technology, and recently we have changed to being more paperless by scanning and attaching documents to our files.

When we are not at work, Diane loves to ride her horses; Ann enjoys camping and gardening; Kathleen stays more than active as a mother of a young son; and I enjoy hiking and playing with my granddaughters.

Though the accounting department is not in the front lines of customer service, we play a vital role in running the finances of the agency.
