Backpack Safety
Backpacks are supposed to make life easier for kids who have to get all those textbooks back and forth from home or from class to class. But when a student packs too many books into a backpack, it can result in pain and long-term health problems, especially for kids in the middle grades who are at a stage of fast growing. They are the most vulnerable to posture problems and pain in the shoulder and back.

MANAGER'S CORNER
Autumn is a beautiful time of year in the Inland Northwest. The kids are back in school, the leaves will be changing colors and soon there will be a chill in the air. This is the time when the Employee Benefits Department gears up for our busiest renewal season of the year preparing for our January 1, 2012 renewals. However, FAFS also had a productive summer to reflect upon.
In June we were pleased to provide a new Human Resource (HR) tool to our clients at no additional cost to them. This tool is a website that provides an extensive human resources library to aid in compliance with State and Federal Laws and to avoid penalties and potential employee lawsuits. Whether in need of a form, poster, the newest informaion on healthcare reform laws or state employment laws, this website provides a great range of online tools to help manage our clients' HR needs.
Also this summer, FAFS hosted a seminar for our clients and prospective clients on "Alternate Funding Arrangements". This informative session introduced a way to fund your health plan that allows employers more control over cost and plan design. The biggest advantage to these types of plans is the unique opportunity for mid-size (25 to 100 employees) groups to benefit from favorable claims experience through a partial return of premium or premium credit moving forward. We expect this to be a hot topic during the busy January renewal season.
There is a great deal of uncertainty in the medical marketplace as the unknown factor of Healthcare Reform slowly unveils itself. We at FAFS are committed to keeping our employer groups and prospective clients abreast of upcoming Healthcare Reform legislation and other important topics throughout the year by offering informative seminars and monthly newsletters. With the New Year right around the corner and all of the tough business decisions our clients are facing in this economic climate, employee benefit decisions can be somewhat of a daunting task.
Renewals will begin to be released in October. Are you ready to renew? Now is the time to prepare. Our clients look to us to help guide them in their employee benefit decisions and FAFS wants you to know that we are up to the challenge!
We hope you enjoy the fall and close out 2011 on a prosperous note!

College Students Property Insurance
Over 50,000 property crimes are reported on college campuses annually, and more than 1,800 fires. Many more students suffer damages from accidents ranging from water damage from broken pipes, to theft or vandalism to computers, phones, clothing, and other property. None of these losses are insured by the school. We are proud to offer extremely affordable, comprehensive student property insurance, available to students in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California and Alaska. Here are some of the reasons to consider a separate personal property policy for college students:
- Universities and colleges are not responsible for students' belongings -
- Keep claims off of the parents' policy -
- Much lower deductibles than parents' policy -
- Low cost policy -
- Covers property at college and in transit to and from school / home -
Visit Fidelity Associates Student Property Insurance for more information and to enroll. |
