Cyrus O'Leary's Pies - Spotlight Client

"The name of our parent company is 'Fresh Foods Corporation of America.' It symbolizes our aspiration to expand and grow, while benchmarking success and quality in terms of our FRESH-BAKED heritage and tradition.

Cyrus O'Learys pie awardsWe started in 1981 with the opening of the landmark Cyrus O'Leary's Restaurant in Spokane, Washington. Our restaurant drew praise and attention from across the Pacific Northwest for its extensive line of gourmet, made-from-scratch, FRESH-BAKED pies.

After numerous requests from other restaurants and supermarkets, in 1987 we moved to a separate bakery and ventured into wholesaling. The premise was to remain steadfast in our commitment to quality, using the same formulas and hand-crafted processes that had built our reputation. Today, our route salesman are busy stocking grocery stores and supplying restaurants throughout the Inland Northwest (40 mile radius), delivering more than 25 varieties of FRESH-BAKED Cyrus O'Leary's pies five days a week!

In 1996 we introduced our first line of FROZEN, premium-quality, gourmet pies. We dedicated ourselves to remaining true to our beginnings - when we earned our reputation based on quality. Only minor modifications were made to our FRESH-BAKED formulas to satisfy freeze-thaw requirements. Today, our frozen pie offering has expanded to include a family of brands, which includes Cyrus O'Leary's Pies, Brown's Fruit Juice Sweetened Pies, and our newest addition, Cyrus O'Leary's Single Serve Desserts.

In October 1992, we relocated to a state-of-the-art, custom-designed and newly constructed 40,000 square foot wholesale bakery. Planning for this move was driven by the need to preserve quality and enhance process flow. Ownership of our building (along with land to expand) demonstrates our long-term commitment to the business.

We are very proud of the 46 first-place awards that we've received since 2002 at the National Pie Championships... it's pretty neat that we can bring this type of recognition back to Spokane every year. We love what we do here - mass production formulas and techniques will never become part of our heritage. Our goal is to 'WOW' our customers with quality and service! From receipt of purchase order, through production, shipping and delivery, we're out to prove 'WE'VE GOT A PASSION FOR PIE!'"

13 Ways to Winterize Your Home
home in snow
For many of us, winter means curling up next to the fireplace. But what if your home isn't prepared for winter weather? You could find yourself fixing burst water pipes instead. These tips from the Insurance Information Institute and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry can help eliminate some of the worry about your home this winter.
  • Make sure your furnace is in good working order. Check that the filter is clean and replace it if it's not. Make sure that the thermostat and pilot light are working properly and that the pipe bringing fuel to your furnace isn't leaking or loose.
  • Have your heating ducts cleaned. The ducts should be vacuumed every five years.

Quick Monkey Bread Recipe

Patti MacDougall, Commercial Lines Senior Account Manager, shares a recipe for Quick Monkey Bread. We always enjoy this recipe when Patti brings in into the office, and hope that you do too! Patti says "This works really well if you put it together the night before you want to use it, refrigerate it overnight, and put it in the oven while getting ready in the morning. When you are ready to eat, it will still be warm."

Ingredients:
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup sugar
3 tsps ground cinnamon
4-10 oz cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted

Spray a Bundt pan well with cooking spray. Sprinkle pecans evenly in bottom of pan, set pan aside. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Cut biscuits into quarters, roll each piece in sugar mixture and layer in pan. Combine brown sugar and butter. Pour over dough. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes. Cool bread 10 minutes in pan. Invert onto serving platter. Yield 1 coffee cake.
Food Drive for Second Harvest Inland NW

Fidelity Associates' employees have been participating in a food and donations drive for Second Harvest Inland NW. Groups of employees and friends have "challenged" each other and so far have raised over $600!
Second Harvest can turn every $1 into six pounds of food, so that's almost 4,000 pounds of food! We are also still collecting food donations through 12/16, for those in need this holiday season.
