Client Testimonial

"Hi Scott,

I just wanted to pass along to you the terrific experience I have had working with Fidelity Associates for my insurance needs for the past several years. Everyone I have spoken to has been courteous, helpful and responsive, specifically Kim Krogh and Rose Chambers. They have always gone above and beyond to provide outstanding service to me. To give a very recent example, Rose proactively call me today to let me know that my auto insurance is up for renewal in February, my son had a ticket drop off, she pulled some new quotes and is going to save me $90/mo. Wow! That's what I call service. I feel like a WalMart customer that receives Nordstrom service."

Regards,
Desireé Madsen

Employee Spotlight - Craig Jones

Craig JCraig S. Jones, CPCU, AAI

I have worked for Fidelity Associates since June 1984, starting here at 24 years old.  After graduating from Washington State University and spending two years working in Texas, upon returning to Spokane my first position at Fidelity was as Marketing Manager.   In my current position of Commercial Account Executive, my main focus is helping my business customers with all of their insurance needs.  I enjoy the opportunity to learn the inner-workings of a wide variety of local businesses.  My specialty is in non-profit organizations, schools and universities, and the service industry.

My wife, Cathy and I have been married for 27 years and we have two sons, Ryan and Devin.  Ryan is a junior at WSU, majoring in Sports Management, and Devin is a senior at Ferris High School, attending WSU next fall.  We also have two West Highland terriers, Carson and Molly.

I am particularly passionate about athletics and pride myself in being involved with a number of area organizations.  I volunteer as an area administrator with Spokane Hoopfest; am on the Spokane Cougar Club Board; and have been the chairman of the Big I/Trusted Choice Washington State Junior Golf Tournament for the past five years.  A highlight in my passion for athletics was the opportunity to assist in hosting the NCAA Men's Basketball teams when they have been in Spokane.  I enjoy supporting the Ferris Boosters Committee to raise money for Ferris High School Athletics and the WSU Devlin Golf Tournament to raise money for WSU Athletics.

It was my honor to serve as past president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Spokane and an assistant Football coach for Ferris High School the past three years.  In my spare time, I enjoy golfing, cycling, running and fishing, and my latest endeavor is officiating AAU basketball.

I look forward to continuing to do what I love, pursuing my passions and watching my children do the same.
Arbor Crest Fire
Arbor Crest  Wine Cellars Rebuilds!
Arbor Crest
February 12, 2010

Article by:James and Kristina van Loben Sels
Arbor Crest Wine Cellars
General Manager/Viticulturist
Winemaker/Owner

On the morning of Dec 23, 2009, Arbor Crest suffered a tremendous loss. We awoke early to learn that our winery's icon, The Cliff House and known to many as The Riblet Mansion, was on fire.

On that morning of our loss, we found ourselves overwhelmed with sadness and shock.  Yet in that time of loss, Fidelity's presence onsite the morning of the fire, made Kristina and I realize that your company is truly a reflection of what it preaches. I have heard many times from you over the years the mantra: "You've got to be there for your customers, even if it is after hours or during the holidays." Well you practice what you preach! Having never been through a fire loss of any kind, we were all overwhelmed with the support and guidance from you and everyone at Fidelity.

Arbor Crest Wine Cellars is starting a new chapter in the history of our family business.  The fire repairs on our National Historic Building will take up to a year to finish, but we believe with Fidelity's guidance, this process will move along seamlessly.  Our primary goal is to restore the Cliff House to its original grandeur. Although the Cliff House is the icon of our winery, the positive news is that the majority of our day-to-day operations and event season will go on as planned without major hiccups.  We are looking forward to our Sunday Concert Series which we believe will be our best ever with the current talent lined-up!

Moving forward, Arbor Crest Wine Cellars could not be more proud to have partnered with Fidelity Associates Insurance & Financial Services.  It is in these tough times where your company shines and guides its friends, family and businesses through the often rough waters and steers them in a direction of hope and calmness. Your passion and dedication for your work and company are remarkable, as your leadership places you in our greatest respects.  Thank you again for all the effort and time you have dedicated to helping our company and us personally to get through these difficult times.

So on behalf of Arbor Crest Wine Cellars, Marcia, Harry, Kristina and I along with all of our staff would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to you and your amazing company!

Builders Sponsor Worker's Comp Initiative

DOLThe Building Industry Association of Washington has filed paperwork for an initiative aimed at privatizing workers' compensation insurance in Washington State. BIAW needs to collect about 241,000 valid voter signatures by this summer to get the measure on the November ballot. If approved, the initiative would set up a task force to recommend ways of bringing private insurers into the workers' comp system. The Legislature would still have the final say.

"Decades of mismanagement and inefficiency at the Department of Labor & Industries have resulted in a high-cost system with the highest rate of lost time for injured workers in the country. Administrative expenses have spiraled out of control, our pension rate has increased more than 300% in a decade, and the Department is increasing taxes by nearly $120 million in 2010," BIAW said.

Workers' compensation rates will climb by an average of 7.6% this year, raising about $117 million for the state-run system. According to a recent State Auditor's report, there is a 74% chance of insolvency in the Accident Fund and a 4% probability of insolvency in the Medical Aid Fund in two years. The actuarial firm hired to audit the program recommended an increase in worker's compensation rates of 58% to break even.

The same week our state auditor announced the need for this large rate increase for our worker's comp program, Nevada saw an average decrease of 8% for workers' compensation insurance voluntary loss costs and a 4% average decrease for workers' compensation assigned risk rates. Nevada is one of the most recent states to add competition to their monopolistic worker compensation program.
