Destination: Fredericksburg
There are over 600 half marathons hosted all over the country. The 13.1 distance is unchanged no matter where runners elect to run. One key deciding factor for runners must then be the scenery. By running the Historic Half, participants will step into charming historic downtown Fredericksburg that blends fascinating American heritage with upbeat shopping, dining and entertainment. Find out more about your upcoming visit to Fredericksburg. Change your plans and stay for the weekend in Fredericksburg rather than enduring the drudgery of an early morning, pre-race drive.

Recruit Friends for 5K or Relay
Don't hog all the fun of Historic Half Weekend. Inspire friends, neighbors, co-workers and relatives to register and run, too. If the 13.1 distance overwhelms them, introduce the Semper Fred 5K or Historic Half relay. The Semper Fred 5K starts and finishes under the same impressive scaffolding structure as the Historic Half. All participants receive an impressive medal with recognition-worthy runners receiving age awards, calculated in five year increments. For a longer distance than the 5K, encourage others to log roughly a quarter marathon as part of a Historic Half relay team. The first team member will complete miles one to six before tagging in a partner in the relay zone, who will run to the finish line. Relay runners receive a distinctive ribbon on their medal and a specially designated competitor shirt for the collaborative effort in covering the 13.1 mile distance.
