A free podcast to help spark interest in students in science and microbiology. Bacteriofiles reports on exciting news about bacteria, microbes, and viruses. It explains the connection between the research and how it may affect our lives. These interesting and entertaining podcasts present science in a way that may inspire high school students to consider science as a career choice.

The AAAS Project 2061 Science Assessment Website
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has launched an innovative website to help educators assess more precisely what students know about key ideas in science and -- just as importantly -- the incorrect ideas they have. It offers a detailed picture of how middle- and high-school students across the United States are currently doing in science, and features information on what they know and on hundreds of misconceptions they have about everything from the size of atoms to whether all organisms have DNA.

The National Science Teachers Association (NTSA) has extended the deadline for applications for the 2011 New Sciences Teacher Academy to July 1, 2011. Now entering its fifth year, the New Science Teacher Academy is one of NSTA's premier programs, providing professional development and mentoring support to second- and third-year secondary science teachers.
