Promethean Intermediate Flipcharts-Motion and Multimedia |
| Want to spice up your flipcharts? Have you seen some neat movement and multimedia in other flipcharts and want to make yours exciting, too? Need a refresher on how to work with your flipcharts? This class will address these questions and many other flipchart techniques.

Learn how to add ActivExpression questions to your flipcharts.

Technology Tools for Science Grade 6-12 |

In this class, we will discuss technology tools, including great online resources, to help you teach your Science standards. You will have time to develop a portfolio of resources and lessons you can use when school begins.

Intermediate SMART Notebooks |

If you are familiar with the basics of SMART's Notebook 10 software, and want to add more tricks and interactivity to your lessons, this is the class for you! We will cover how to use animation and revealing tricks to spice up your notebooks. You will leave with a lesson you can use the next day.

In this class, we will learn about using existing podcasts in class, why to have students create podcasts, and how to use free software, called Audacity, to create podcasts.

Learn how to make wikis a part of your classroom! We'll discuss what a wiki is and ways to use wikis in a school setting, look at examples from real classrooms, address safety concerns, and finish the class by building your own wiki using free online tools.

The Doug Prouty Classroom Grant Program |
East Bay Computer Using Educators (EBCUE) is again offering The Doug Prouty Classroom Grant Program. This program seeks to fund K-12 classroom teachers who want to implement creative, innovative and student-centered uses of technology and support student achievement in core curriculum: English/language, arts, math, history/social science, and science. The Warren W. Eukel Teacher Trust Fund annually distributes three separate $10,000 grants to outstanding teachers. The Trust will select nominees who exhibit extraordinary commitment of personal time and energy on behalf of their students. Teachers can self-nominate, or be nominated by an administrator, colleague, or student. The award may be used in any manner the recipient wishes. Chevron Grants via DonorsChoose.org |
Chevron is offering ongoing funding for selected projects that focus on science, technology, engineering, and math. Public school teachers are encouraged to submit project requests for the materials their students need to learn. All full-time, front-line educators at public schools (teachers, librarians, guidance counselors, and school nurses) who spend at least 75% of their time working with students are eligible to request materials. Healthy Schools Program |
The Alliance for Healthier Generation's Healthy Schools Program is offering seed grants of up to $4,000 to schools coupled with ongoing support in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, and staff wellness over the next three Years.

Science & Engineering Fair |
The 2010 Contra Costa County Science & Engineering Fair welcomes all to attend and view numerous projects submitted this year by county middle and high school students. Attendees can observe the presentations and experiments up close, as well as talk to the students who entered them. 2010 Census "Everybody Counts" Poster Contest |
Contra Costa County is launching a countywide poster contest for all K-12 students, who attend Contra Costa schools. The goal of the contest is to raise awareness of the importance of the census - that it is safe, easy, and important - and that everyone must be counted. Positive Mental Attitude Seminar

The Positive Mental Attitude Presentation is a 50 Minute Power Point presentation, which is done in a classroom setting. Presented by Contra Costa Kops for Kids, their mission is to help prevent drug abuse, gangs, violence, and juvenile delinquency in Contra Costa County by providing athletic, educational, and other programs for at risk youth. The object of Positive Mental Attitudes is to bring the concept of positive mental attitudes to the students at the high school level who are least likely to have such an attitude.
