P.S. The Art at Penn Place Gallery is next to the Black Market Bistro Restaurant in the historic Post Office Building of the Town of Garrett Park. Parking is available next to the railroad tracks. If you plan to stay for dinner after the opening, you may want to call the Black Market Bistro at 301-933-3000 for reservations. The Bistro opens at 5:00 pm for dinner and only takes reservations on a limited basis to allow for walk-ins.

When I was 23, I studied photography at New York University and spent many months taking black and white photos of my family. One day, before heading to the beach, I captured my cousin Denise in her jeans and bathing suit top as she looked reflectively at herself in the bathroom mirror. She was only 20 at the time. When I started painting full-time a few years ago, this was one of the first photos I chose to work from.  While my work may have a modern flair, many are based on nostalgic family photos.
