Hi. I'm pleased to share two new paintings with you. I recently completed a painting of Doc's All American old school diner. It became my favorite place to get a hamburger when I visited South Florida last winter. I hope I captured its essence as well as the feeling one gets from being in Florida's tropical climate with its ever changing skies and swaying palm trees. This past month I also painted Cathy's portrait as a surprise for her birthday. I can accomplish a small portrait like this in just a few days. Doc's of Delray Beach, Florida

Last winter, while working on a commissioned
painting in South Florida, I spent some time photographing the area. One of my favorite
places to stroll was along Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, a street
filled with restaurants, art galleries, and shops, that leads east
to the Atlantic Ocean. At the top of the hill is Doc's. In a world of
drive-through and
eat-in restaurants, I love Doc's because you just
walk up to a window, order your meal, and eat outside. Their
hamburgers and shakes are great and low cost too!

Cathy and I have been friends since meeting at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, Maryland in the mid-60's. In those days, we traded our 2 X 3" school photos and amazingly, all these years later, I still have my collection of these small black and white photos. To commemorate Cathy's 60th, I worked from her high school photo above, which captures how she looked when we first met.
