For Everyone Who Enjoys Eating Well on Boats...

 

Whether you own a boat, work on a yacht, are considering buying a boat, belong to the Freedom Boat Club, are a frequent guest aboard a friend's yacht (or Gourmet in the Galleywish to be invited more often...) this series of practical, hands-on cooking classes definitely has something to offer you.  Let's be honest, preparing fabulous meals in a galley poses a host of culinary challenges.  We wrestle with storage issues, cooling & heating limitations or lack thereof, an often limited supply of fresh water, being off shore (or in Narragansett Bay) for a number of days at a time, and the list goes on... Cooking, prepping, provisioning for and serving delectable meals can seemPrivate Chef Christy Prior downright daunting.  Well, no longer must that be the case...Chef Christy Erickson-Prior, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, international yacht Chef and race team coordinator is here to teach us to become more proficient and creative in the galley and will share her time earned tips & tricks to make your next meal on board far more enjoyable.

you'll know you are in for real treat! This time with an entirely different line-up of techniques, tips and recipes, Chef Richard Allaire, formerly of Tucker's Bistro, will share his love of pressure cooking

Pressure Cooker

 and its versatility.  In this class he'll teach infused oils (in a glass jar inside the pressure cooker), the perfectly cooked bean - quick, absolutely evenly cooked, delicious and perfect for 

summer salads, dips, tacos and your favorite bean dishes.  And, to show off the versatility of pressure cooking, Chef 

Richard will cook a mouthwatering cheesecake! 

We'll also taste wines from Newport Wine Cellar to compliment the sauces.

French Asian Fusion with Chef Chad Hoffer & Chef Tyler Burnley of tsk  

 

If you have been to recently opened tsk (Thames Street Kitchen) on Lower Thames Street in Newport, you'vetsk Thames Street Kitchenexperienced the delightful and ever changing fresh & eclectic menu that pulls inspiration from Chef Chad's French Culinary Institute formal training and a love of Asian foods, flavors & dishes.  This unique twist conjures up flavors, aromas and spices such as lemongrass, fresh cilantro and toasted sesame oil and blends them seamlesslyFrench Asian Fusion with classic dishes using farm raised chicken, grass fed beef or fresh local fish & shellfish, to name only a few.  Chef Tyler, who worked on Simmons Farm prior to joining forces with Chef Chad to open tsk, has a passion for fresh local meat, produce & cheeses and the two source locally for as much of every night's menu as possible.  Join these two dynamic Chefs in the kitchen for a hands-on class to learn just how they produce such fabulous food at tsk!  We'll also taste wines, chosen by Newport Wine Cellar to compliment the menu.

Our Cancellation Policy

In regard to class cancellations & refunds - if you can not make it to a class, for whatever reason, please contact us prior to the class and if we can "resell" your seat in the class, Newport Cooks! will give you a full refund in the form of a future class credit or a check for $55, which ever you choose.  If you cancel or do not show for a class, for whatever reason, and we can not fill your seat prior to class, you receive a credit of $25 toward a future class. 

 

 

If you find you can't make it to a class that you have pre-registered for and/or paid for, please contact Mary at your earliest convenience and we will make every attempt to try to resell the seat we are holding for you.
