Created by one of our Listers, this is a one-day
retreat, away from auditions and traffic, notes and rehearsals --  conceived with mature singers in mind. We'll honor the work we've done so far, and set new professional and financial goals with sessions featuring a financial workshop designed by Jen Mulder and a master class on vocal health led by voice therapist Joanna Cazden.  Registration is just $35.

New company brings 'Onegin' to the Westside
     

The debut performance of the recently organized Independent Opera Company, led by founder/artistic director, Galina Barskaya, brought an enjoyable reading of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin to Westside audiences, sung in Russian with English supertitles.

 

Tchaikovsky's lush setting of Pushkin's beloved novel in verse provides enhanced intensity to the source's emotional highlights.   --> Full article

Lister tenor/conductor Allan Laino (left) is off to DC this week, leaving LA to work on a doctorate in choral conducting at University of Maryland, studying under Ed Maclary.  Allan has been singing at St. Mark's Glendale and with various groups around town.  --You'll be missed, but we wish you all the best!

Paul FloydLA Opera's coach and assistant conductor Paul Floyd has long been one of the most respected coaches in SoCal and beyond.  Just returned from two weeks in Russia with the Domingo-Thornton Young Artists and world-renowned soprano Galina Vishnevskaya, Paul is now off to Waimea as part of the faculty at the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival.  (Color us jealous...)  When he returns, we'll have more to tell, as exciting new opportunities to work with Paul may be forthcoming... keep an eye out for details!
