How to subscribe to the new Arts in the Media
You're a regular arts news reader, right? Let's hope so, as it's the best way to keep up on your business and what others are doing. As you've probably noticed, our popular news link section now lives on the website, and is also available as an RSS feed. This new format offers several advantages: - easier access, as links are available 24/7 without a login, and updated regularly
- longer life outside the scope of individual email newsletters,
- increased interactivity, including the ability to sort and search entries
- reduced workload for our admins (Using this format saves about 5 hrs/wk, allowing us to spend more time finding jobs!)
Getting your news is still easy: just bookmark this or click the link in each newsletter to go to the news page on the website. It's free, it's available anytime, and it's updated regularly. However, if you use a feed reader (aka 'news aggregator') that picks up news from the sources you choose, such a tool can help you trawl the Web on your own, without the need to visit each site every day. It will deliver linked headlines in an organized list format, so you can create your own mix of publications, scan headlines quickly, and get just what you need. It also makes it easy to share individual articles and posts via Facebook, Twitter, Digg, etc.
There are many options available, no matter what type of computer you have, and they're very easy to use. But since some of our readers may be new to this, here's a step-by-step guide to subscribing to our feed: Subscribing using our feed link:- First, go to the Arts in the Media page.
- Click the 'Subscribe in a reader' link, or the RSS icon next to it (as shown at the top of this article).
- Pick a reader from the options shown. You'll be prompted to log in or register, as needed.
- Once you're logged in to the reader's system, our feed should be added automatically.
- Bookmark your reader so you can get to it easily.
Subscribing through your reader:
If you're already using a reader, look for the button or link to subscribe to a new feed, and paste in this URL:
http://www.laurislist.net/index.php?option=com_resource&view=list&category_id=23&Itemid=224&format=feed&type=rss
Now that you're set up, make the most of your new tool by doing a few searches and adding the feeds that interest you. You can add and delete as often as you want, as interests and needs change. You'll see that this is the future of news: getting your customized mix, the way you want it, with access to information from all over the world. We'll continue to expand our Web Links section on the site to offer reader suggestions, and we encourage users and members to add links as well, so you can share what you're reading. (Guests can always suggest links using the Contact us page, linked below.) Have fun, keep up, and enjoy! Need help? Contact us and tell us what you'd like to do!
