The Affluent Artist:  How Creative Could You Be If Money Wasn't An Issue?  The Money Book for Creative People by Rick DiBiasio

Many artists hate money, hate talking about it, and wouldn't dream of reading about it.  After all, why learn about something you don't have, and are probably not supposed to have?  How can we starve properly if we actually make a living?

Rick DiBiasio is a certified financial planner, a blogger and a radio talk show host, spreading the word about positive career thinking, 'because we are all artists!".  His popular website, AffluentArtist.com, offers articles and resources covering a variety of topics that can help singers.  By sharing interviews and insights about the various career roles artists play (Starving Artist, Corporate Artist, Self-Employed Artist or Affluent Artist), his examples are varied and sure to resonate.  The lessons are clear, funny and adaptable to individual needs. But more than anything, DiBiasio spreads the hope that struggling doesn't have to be a way of life.  That hope, of course, is a valuable commodity to those who have chosen in the colorful grey area.

Recent events have reminded us all about the importance of a good budget, smart spending and solid planning.  There is no better time to adopt a new mindset about finances, and by discarding some of the clichés surrounding the artistic stereotype, you'll shed baggage and gain staying power.  Onward -- there's work to be done.
