Sudden loss of a great OC bass
Craig D. Mitchell
Very sad news this week:  Craig Mitchell, who sang widely throughout Southern California, passed away suddenly on Wednesday night, apparently of a heart attack.  If you'd like to visit Craig's Facebook page, you'll see how many lives he touched with his humor, his humanity and his wonderful voice.  He was a Lister, but more importantly, he was a very special guy, and this loss will be felt throughout the singer community.

We're getting in touch with friends and family and will post information about services, etc., as available.

Stay healthy,
my friends
'Tis the season, still, to stay close to your Kleenex and cough drops.  If you haven't gotten a bug yet, you probably will.  So, here are a few resources devoted to keeping singers up and around:

SingersHealth.com:  A website for Chicago doctor specializing in vocal health, it nevertheless contains a whole lot of information and links.

10 Things to Avoid from Vocalist/UK:  A lot of this is common sense, but a reminder might be useful when your head is stuffed with who-knows-what.

TheSingersResource.com:  Their Vocal Health section contains a variety of interesting articles.

Classical Singer forums:  OK, it's a forum, not an authoritative resource.  But the discussion on whether or not sex is bad for opera singers is nothing if not entertaining.

...and finally, a plethora of potions at MyVocalHealth.com

A rather snotty disclaimer (pun intended):
  • Yes, some of these sites are general or even pop-related.
  • No, we were neither compensated nor "freebie'd"by any of these sites or vendors.
  • No, we are not endorsing these resources as diagnostic tools or identifying them as the be all, end all of medical knowledge.
  • Use your head, talk to you doctor if you have questions, and enjoy them for the general encouragement and whimsical entertainment they have to offer.
    Above all...

Be well!
