 Ecclesiastes 3:11

Greetings!
MarieCommemorationArt

Are you experiencing natures burst of new life this Spring as flowers awaken our view with a rainbow of colors and accompanied by a chorus of bird melodies?  Winter's silence is interesting because

it sets us up for a spectacular , almost loud Spring.  Likewise, I've been quietly working since the Valentine newsletter and this message heralds the final days of planning and the beginning of concrete steps leading to our June MARIE Commemoration.  Thank you for your patience.

I am pleased to say that since the last group email, three more MARIE families found out about the Commemoration and connected!  That means that our effort now includes six of the seven families (The Raytheon staff and crew) who lost a loved one on the MARIE and many, many folks who want to remember and honor their friends who were lost on the MARIE.

This is your heads up!   After Easter Sunday, you will receive an on-line invitation from me inviting you to register for the MARIE Commemoration Event June 4-6, 2010.  There will be a discounted price for early registration during April for the MARIE families, friends and anyone else interested in attending.  (As you consider the fees, please understand that only60% of costs are being absorbed by participants and that sponsorships as well as donations will be critical for reducing the difference.)

Please help me to ensure those who want to attend this historical event register early because it will help greatly in event preparation as well as gain them the early registration discount.

Later in the month there will be an invitation mailing via USPS that will be distributed to those on my mailing list, the Santa BarbaraMaritimeMuseum list, as well as an elected representative list.  And the event will be included on various Santa Barbara organizational publications.

Have a Happy Easter!

EASTER and the MARIE
As the cliché goes, "To get us on the same sheet of music," I have compiled an orderly account of events of what is know to be true and some interesting speculations surrounding the vessel MARIE and the seven men who were lost at sea expanding the new frontiers of infrared.  It is the result of six years of perseverance in search of original source documentation and conversations with those who have a first hand knowledge of the 1960 events.  While there are still interviews remaining to record, I'm pleased with what has come together.  The information on the MARIEevent.com website includes much of this fruit  while other pieces of our accumulated information is better suited for our face to face meeting at the MARIE Commemoration Event activities.

For those who celebrate Easter and commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, you may be interested in a recent revelation that I've enjoyed entertaining.  As I mentioned, I'm weaving together a credible account of what is known and what remains unknown of the MARIE story.  My journey has gained me even greater respect for the Bible's credibility in documenting the life, death, and resurrection of Christ.  Why?  Because the Bible documents the eyewitness accounts of hundreds of people and were preserved in an orderly accounting of what the author's knew to be true. Given that the eyewitness accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John ...were written with in 30-40yrs of the resurrection... I believe you will also respect the fact that the Gospels have endured 2000 years of scrutiny because the pages hold truth.

If this line of reasoning is of interest, you may enjoy watching Lee Strobel, author of A Case for Faith an A Case for Christ continue this line of reasoning in his short video link below.  Watch Easter Insights By Author Lee Strobel:  http://www.leestrobel.com/videoserver/video.php?clip=strobelT1064
