Pinching Pennies
I am pleased to announce that my painting "Pinching Pennies" won the Hawai'i Watercolor Society Award at the Hawai'i Watercolor Society Members' Exhibit at Marks Garage in Honolulu.
Please join me at the Awards Ceremony this Friday night, April 9th from 5-7 pm at Marks Garage/Gallery, the home of the Hawai'i Arts Alliance, on the corner of Nu'uanu and Pauahi in Chinatown, Honolulu. Parking is available at Marks Garage Parking Center next door and at the Chinatown Gateway lot, entry on Beretania St. just past Nu'uanu Ave.
It seems a fitting image for this time of year, with tax season in full swing; we all need to have more fun!
Last weekend Keanu Bruner and I volunteered at "Tuxes
& Tails", a benefit for the Hawaiian Humane Society held at
the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki. We met several therapy dogs and their owners there. Here are just a few of them:

This is Mele, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with her owner Dawn. Dawn can't say enough about this fabulous breed of dog.

Oscar, owned
by Christy Lovell, usually does his therapy "au naturale", but he came to
the event dressed in a top hat & tux. After all, the event was called "Tuxes and Tails".

Kula, a Golden Retriever, is an American Red Cross Volunteer at Tripler Army Medical Center where he does therapy work. Here he is with his owner Rinsei Haimoto.

Keanu and I got dressed up too. Here we are with Maka and Abby, two Samoyed therapy dogs owned by Patty and David Osaki.
Keanu wore my great-grandfather's top hat and I wore my grandmother's Sunday hat.
While at the event, we helped guests
paint "Paws for a Cause" and gave away FREE "Say What?" postcards, noted below.

Would you like to receive some FREE postcards too?
If so, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope to me at:
PO Box 61707, Honolulu, HI 96839-1707.
I will fill it with FREE "Say What?" postcards and send it back to you. Each postcard has lots of room on the back for any message you add when sending it to your friends.
