A big thanks to the team at WaterCourse Foods for hosting a Community Day for Trips for Kids last week.  Their significant contribution from the event is enough to keep our vans topped off with fuel and insured for the rest of our busy summer ride season!

This is a big deal...Please go back again soon for a meal!

TFK Boulder Update: 1st Ride and Grants

TFK Boulder is gaining momentum as we prepare for the first official TFK Boulder ride tomorrow! We're still in need of volunteers to ride with the Move It program from Longmont at Boulder Valley Ranch.

I just wanted to share the exciting news that we Specialized Logojust received word from Sports Garage, our Boulder Specialized Dealer sponsoring the grant, that our Specialized grant proposal for $4,500 was accepted!  TFK Boulder will receive $3,000 cash and five Specialized Hardrock mountain bikes. As a note, this is the second largest grant we have ever received (after REI, of course).

In partnership with the Boulder Valley Cycling Alliance and our awesome group at Casey Middle School, TFK Boulder also received a $4,000 grant from the City of Boulder last month.  These funds will be used to help establish additional bike clubs at BVSD middle schools and support the fun, skill building Middle Cross program.

Bailey Hundo: We're riding 100 miles for one great cause - Trips for Kids!
Four State Senators Racing for TFK!
Bailey Hundo State Senators

Four cycling CO State Senators, led by Chris Romer, have established a new 100 mile race starting and ending in the town of Bailey, CO. Proceeds from the race will benefit Trips for Kids, the CO High School Racing League, and local trail building.  This Saturday, June 19, Andy Brannon and I will be competing in the "Hundo" along with ten other TFK supporters along with notable pro racers Dave Weins and Travis Brown. This inaugural race is an invitation only, pledge based event. Consider making a contribution supporting Andy Brannon or Andrew Goodwillie's Hundo ride by clicking here!

Read about it: Tom Zirbel, a former international level road racer, has been coaching our group of students at Casey and has signed up to race and raise funds for Trips for Kids.  Tom is a talented writer and has blogged about plans to compete in the Hundo even though he hasn't ridden his clunker of a mountain bike for years.

And a big thanks to Dieter and his team of Pearl Izumi folks, Spyder Matt, The Currie and Kindergen Familes and Girl Love Bike.com for staffing aid stations so I can attempt this monster of a race!

Help Trips for Kids National Win $50,000 by Taking theTwomile ClifBar 2-Mile Challenge!

Sign up for TFK's Red Team in Clif Bar's 2 Mile Challenge www.2milechallenge.com

As one of the 3 chosen teams TFK National will earn $25,000 BUT the team that signs up the most people and logs the most miles will win an additional $25.000.

TFK National is giving local chapters, like us, the opportunity to apply to receive a share of this donation to help purchase program related equipment.  Please join and help the TFK "Red Team" stay ahead of the other two competing organizations in the race to win the bonus $25,000!

Clif's Explanation of the Challenge:

40% of all urban travel in the US happens within 2 miles, and 90% of that is by car. Fight climate change simply by riding your bike. Sure, we appreciate that long ago the automobile changed the way the world works; but like anything, it's best in moderation.

So we, the employees of Clif Bar & Company, created a game to see how many car trips we could replace with a bike instead. Join the ride and take the 2 MILE CHALLENGE.
