Reflecting on the Past 30 Years
|
The legacy began in 1982, when a special educator recognized that the families of the children she served had no time for socialization or interaction with other families due to the inordinate responsibilities of parenting their child with a disability. She organized a weekend event, found sponsors, and invited families to come to a hotel for a weekend of fun and relaxation with other families who had similarly challenging situations. From that humble beginning, that group of parents gathered around the ironing board in one parent's home to write the first proposal to become a Parent Training and Information (PTI) Center for Kansas in 1986. We have grown to also serve as the Family to Family Health Information Center for Kansas. Over the years, our partnerships have grown to include: Kansas State Department of Education, Kansas Department of Health and Environment, various universities throughout Kansas, local school districts and cooperatives, CDDO's and mental health organizations and many more community partners and foundations--all enabling us to serve families raising children with exceptionalities and we look forward to the next 30 years!

Oral Health Kansas sent THIS letter to the administration urging them to select managed care companies that included dental benefits for adults.
