Only God Could Do That!

God has been doing so many cool things with the men we reach, that He has left me saying, "Only God could do that!" I want to share a few of their personal stories. Below are excerpts from recent blog posts, but their whole stories are on the Dream Center blog. You will be encouraged and inspired as you read what God has done. I pray their stories encourage you in the relationships you have!

Henry: From Broken to Tender
Sometimes, continually sowing seed into the life of a young person, can be gut wrenching work, but it's destined to pay off! Now, Henry shows up every week for the Lunch Outreach, he helps us set up and tear down and is showing emotions and tenderness that we have NEVER seen before now. It's amazing what God's LOVE and consistency can do!

Tim: A Relationship Miracle!
Now Tim is nineteen. But, from age twelve to a few weeks ago, my relationship with Tim has been VERY rough. I don't know what happened in those years, but these are the things we experienced from him.... mocking, theft, disrespect, anger and being cursed at. When I lived in John DeShields, he lived nearby me. We had many confrontations and I admit, it began to wear on me. I ended up releasing him to God and prayed that things would eventually change.

Rick: Gardening in the Ghetto
A few weeks ago, we were setting up for lunch and saw Rick taking care of the garden. With some help, he was able to get a job taking care of the garden and the grounds at some of the other housing developments in East St. Louis. When we saw him working, we were so excited for him! He even said that when he was growing up, his grandmother taught him how to garden and it's something he enjoys. It did my heart good to see him working and not only that, but doing a job he enjoys.

No matter what you're facing in your personal relationships, there is HOPE AND RESTORATION with God. Let Him lead your steps as you follow Him into the GOOD plans He has for you.

Summer Time

How exciting that summer is almost here! I hope you have a lot of fun and refreshing activities planned. :) The summer is one of the most fun and fast paced times of the year. My prayer for you and your summer, is that you stay refreshed in God's presence, enjoy your family and friends and that it's your most memorable summer yet.

Thank you for your continued support during the summer months. I'm extremely GRATEFUL! I appreciate you and the heart you have for the people of East St. Louis.

Reaching them together,
Rachel :)
