God Conversations

So much of what this ministry is about, are conversations or better yet, conversations set up by God. This month I would like to share with you some of the recent conversations God gave us with the teens and young men we reach.

God Conversations;

Bad Dreams- On a ride home one night, one of the older teen boys asked, "Have any of you ever had a dream that you were dying?" We talked through this and how watching scary movies can bring this on sometimes. The other boys in the car shared about their bad dreams too. We prayed together for the bad dreams to stop and for God to show them which movies are harmful to their thoughts.

Shooting in the neighborhood- One of the guys who comes to lunch on Wednesdays shared that lately there has been shooting almost every night and he can't sleep. This seemed like something he wanted to tell us just to get off his chest.

Letting a friend down- This boy asked one of the volunteers if they had ever felt like they let a friend down. She was able to share with him the hard times she had experienced in relationships and encourage him in his friendship.

Sex, church and violence- Around Christmas time I was able to take two of the boys to dinner. On their own, they brought up topics like church, violence and sex before marriage. I was in awe of God that a simple dinner could turn into life conversations that prayerfully will be seeds planted and eventually change the way they think about these topics.

Lunch time- The conversations we've been having during the Wednesday lunch time range anywhere from all the food the guys love to cook, to how one of them has stopped selling drugs and how he was pulled into selling when he was only twelve years old. We are seeing God slowly open up their hearts more and more to simply to talk to us, where months ago there were barely any words spoken, just smiles and a thank you.

Mom's health problems- One of the teens opened up to a volunteer that he was scared about his Mom's recent stroke. They were able to talk about it and he shared with the boy about God's healing. We prayed for his Mom later and found out that she is doing better.

Slowly making changes- A young lady told me that she has been praying for God to take away the desire to have sex with her boyfriend. She said she has noticed a difference and thinks that God is helping her with this desire.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, because I know without your support and prayers, we wouldn't be able to have these conversations. The outreaches we have, the food we serve, the prizes we give away, the dinners we take kids on, these are all simply a platform for God to use in order to bring about these Divine moments. The donations you give help us to have these outreaches. THANK YOU so much!

Encouragement
Maybe there are conversations in your life that you need God to show up in. My prayer for you, is that He would set them up, give you the right words to speak and be present with you as you have these conversations. He can show up in the simple everyday life moments. Look for Him there. Sometimes, He drops these conversations right in our laps. I love it! I encourage you to start expecting Him to do this.
