Motivation

Curly: Do you know what the secret of life is? [holds up one finger] Curly: This. Mitch: Your finger? Curly: One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and the rest don't mean ~. Mitch: But, what is the one thing? Curly: [smiles] That's what you have to find out.
Remember that from City Slickers? I like it. Here's my version of it:
Sue: Do you know what the secret of weight loss is? [holds up one finger] Sue: This. You: Your finger? Sue: One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and the rest is just details. You: But what is the one thing? Sue: [smiles] Consistency.
Do what you know is right for you every time, every day, day after day with courage and commitment and you WILL meet your goals and dreams.
Left foot, right foot: Skip the junk food and cook something healthy. Left foot, right foot: Go for a brisk walk. Left foot, right foot: Keep a water bottle with you all day and drink up. Left foot, right foot: Lift weights twice every week. Left foot, right foot: Stretch. Left foot, right foot: Eat mostly whole foods the way it look before being processed. Left foot, right foot: Get to bed early. Left foot, right foot: Schedule your cardio workouts - two steady and two interval. Left foot, right foot: Eat proper portions. Left foot, right foot: If the main ingredients are flour, sugar & salt throw it out.
You know what the list is. I know you do. The most common thing I hear and always have is, "I know what to do, I'm just not doing it." So maybe you need a jump start. Try this. Take an hour this week to go through your refrigerator and your pantry. Throw away everything you know is not supporting your goals and dreams. Clear it out. Now, find three healthy recipes that sound good to you. Write down the ingredients, take the list to the store and restock with new things. Cook the recipes in big batches and have them on hand all week. Try them out for work lunches or quick dinners.
The following week, add one new recipe and make a batch. [Left foot, right foot.] Do this consistently for a year. Think you might have a few new healthy recipes that you like? You can change, you really can. Just because you've always done something a certain way, doesn't mean it's best for you. If you always do what you've always done...you'll always get what you always got. Right?
What you do every day, day after day matters. What you eat (and how much) determines your weight. The next time you catch yourself mindlessly eating something that you know doesn't support your best life, stop. Throw it away. Your joy is worth much more than that. Find your courage, make a commitment, and walk it out consistently and with just that one thing you will transform your body, your health and your life.
Now get moving. |

Client Corner
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Open up to someone about who you are and why you are there. Make a meaningful connection. You'll be amazed". I am working on figuring out who I am and why I'm there. You always put your finger on what matters. I am amazed at your insight. "We encourage, support and motivate each other." This is something I need to hear and understand. Thank you. You are so honest that sometimes, it hurts. But your honesty is more valuable to your clients than all the false accommodation in the world. I cherish it as a tremendous gift. You call me on it when I am negative and self-deprecatory; you're also generous with deserved praise. With your help, Sue, I hope to eventually know who I am and why I'm here. For sure, it ain't just exercise!"
"Last week's workout really left me feeling strong."
"Perfect newsletter (& great photo!)! Lena was a fine, fine lady! I'm glad to have known her and I won't ever forget her!"
"What a touching and beautiful newsletter. Thanks Sue!!!"
"I am so sad to hear about Lena. I remembered that you had spoken of her illness once a while back, but heard nothing else so I hoped she was doing well. I remember her fondly. We walked with you several times out at Highbanks and she was so full of energy and positiveness! Her whole being seemed to be filled with determination. I didn't know her well, but she seemed full of confidence and a spirit that just said, "OK! Let's do this!" She was an inspiration to all who worked out with her. I know she will be greatly missed!"
"Thanks for the nice tribute to Lena and putting her picture in there! Still love reading your newsletters." |
