"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." - Wayne Gretzky
You may have noticed I have an appreciation for words like Dream, Rock, and Believe. You will notice that they are prominent in the new studio. They are there for a reason.
For me, fitness used to be something I should be doing but wasn't. It was among a long list of things I felt I should be doing but wasn't. It was one of my reasons for thinking I wasn't as good as others. It was one of my reasons for thinking I didn't have enough discipline or determination for my dreams to come true.
Then I walked. Not far at first, not fast. But I did it. And I felt a little tiny something in me light up. I heard a very small "I did it".
Then I lifted some weights. Just enough to challenge me. No Olympic records, but I did it. And the very small "I did it" grew just a little bit.
Then I took a yoga class.
I jogged for two minutes.
I rode my bike. I swam laps.
I tried Spinning. I tried Zumba.
I went hiking. I climbed a rock.
Then I started to believe.
It wasn't that I couldn't do things, I didn't try. I lived in my head and found all the reasons in the world why I couldn't.
Fitness can be transformational. If you want it to, fitness can change your life. It's a wonderful thing because the changes take place by doing. There is no figuring out required. You just have to take the shot.
If you feel like you are not where you want to be in your life, fitness is a tool available to each one of us no matter what our current fitness level. It can move you from "I should" to "I am." It can transform you from "I can't" to "I did it!". And that belief in yourself can be applied to every area of your life.
It's truly amazing. Now get moving!
