Greetings!
Several internet sites we checked have lists of
the "top 5" resolutions for this New Year.
Getting organized seemed to make all the lists! Is it on your "top 5"?
THE TOP FIVE 2012 RESOLUTIONS LIST
(A Quick "Nuts & Bolts" Special Edition)
1. GET ORGANIZED
Many North Americans are struggling in this area and are getting overwhelmed trying to stay afloat. You are not alone!
Do you find ...
- that you are feeling guilty, embarrassed or ashamed that you can't keep your home or office in order?
- yourself spending too much time looking for lost items?
- you have piles of paper all over the place?
- yourself complaining that you are "too busy"?
- yourself in a life transition that is causing you stress?
- you wish you had someone to help you organize your life?
If you are ready to make a change, we are anxious to be your success partners! Contact us today, and be sure to take advantage of our New's Year's Special below!
2. LOSE WEIGHT
Calories In vs. Calories Out! Google "BMR Calculator" (Basil Metabolic Rate) to find out the number of calories you would burn if you stayed in bed all day. We use energy no matter what we're doing. Next keep track of everything you eat and keep your daily total calories less than your BMR number; but NEVER eat less than 1200 calories per day or your metabolism will shut down. To get even faster results, burn extra calories by working out. One pound = 3500 calories per week (500 calories per day). To help you track your calories online, visit: www.myfitnesspal.com (it's free) or purchase a calorie counting pocket book like "Calorie King" at your local book store.
3. SPEND LESS, SAVE MORE
Losing weight and spending less are very similar. To be debt free sooner than later, you must, must, must create a Budget! Money In, Money Out! Our favorite "money tip" is to withdraw a set amount of cash for each family member (including mom & dad) either monthly or biweekly. Call it an "Allowance", Blow Money", "Fun Money", etc. This gives you freedom to spend without guilt. Also, if you are a compulsive shopper, start leaving your credit cards/debit cards at home. Only use cash. When shopping and the urge to spend hits, get into the habit of asking yourself, "Do I really need this...or is this an I want it purchase?" You will become much more picky over those "wants" and will automatically spend less.
4. ENJOY LIFE TO THE FULLEST
Life only comes once and should be enjoyed. Therefore, make a resolution to find a reason everyday to enjoy the life you've been given. Start your day by reflecting on what you are thankful for. Throughout the day, speak only words of encouragement to yourself. Change your negative statements to positive ones. You would never tell a child that she is stupid or that you hate her fat (body part). Of course not! However, that's exactly what we tend to do to ourselves. So reverse your thinking. Example: "I'm such a failure...I can't do anything right..." reverse this to..."Failure is only failure if I never try & don't learn from it. I WILL conquer this!" (notice I didn't say "I can, or "I'll try"... but "I WILL!" When you catch yourself saying, "I can't"...get into the habit of saying, "I presently struggle with_____."
5. STAYING FIT AND HEALTHY
There are many people who have good intentions every Monday morning or every January 2 to exercise. The key to having success in this area, is to do an activity that you love or once loved long, long ago. What did you enjoy when you were a child? Add some of these things back into your life. Staying physically and mentally fit can change your life in a positive way. Being consistent and exercising daily, for as little as fifteen minutes, will benefit you physically mentally!
MAKE RESOLUTIONS STICK AND SET YOUR GOALS
Make this the year for success
No matter what you've done or failed to accomplish in the past, let it all go...Today is the day for a fresh start!!! Think ahead twelve months from now ... January 2, 2013 and ask yourself, "If everything I desire would happen perfectly, what would it look like?" Write down your goals in the present tense as if it's already happened (example: "I am able to fit into a size 10 pair of jeans!) Write down all the little steps you have to take in order to reach your goal and then prioritze those steps. Do something every day that moves you closer towards your goals.
We absolutely believe you will succeed! DO YOU???
