Do you have a friend or family member who needs an "organizing boost"?

This can be a touchy subject. How do you suggest it without sounding judgmental?

When we care about someone, it is natural for us to want what is best for them. Here are some things to consider if you want to enter into discussion with someone:

1. Does the person acknowledge that there is a problem or that they want to make a change in their surroundings?
2. Due to embarrassment, it is often difficult for someone to even consider allowing people into their disorganized space. Sometimes the option of a neutral third party might be appealing.   We are not embarrassed to call our hairdresser, our lawyer, our real estate agent or any other professional. It is "okay" to need help with organization. If organizing isn't their gift that means they are GREAT at something else.
3. Acknowledging the emotional side of the issue can be helpful. It will keep you away from judgmental thinking. Lots of individuals are bogged down in this area. Organization is the foundation for life. Try to walk a mile in their shoes.....
4. An advantage to working with someone to get organized is that not all of the responsibility and decision making falls on their shoulders alone. It is good share the burden and partner with someone...
5. It is good to have an objective third party - not a family member who has a "history" with them.   Relationships are more important than stuff. Don't risk "relationship" for the sake of organizing.
